big decision...what do you think

Both are pretty, but neither serve any purpose. Extra vents cause havoc with intake temps on 951s and the 931 bonnet doesnt fit a series two 944 properly (internally). They do look smart though.

At the risk if hijacking the thread, my vented panel is the one sold by Deutsch-9 rather than a 931 example but I guess the problem is the same ?

this is where I'm at

I like the look of the bonnet, but it's not original

Having spent a small fortune on the car I want it as good as it can be so I guess original is the way to go..........but then I think what about the Interior , KW suspension and the cup alloys none of which are original and I would not change any of these......

The bonnet was stripped, and immersion primed ( like factory) then sound deadening paint added before the paint job a £400+ job that I really do not want to do again[]

Original does seem to be in vogue .......[:-]

[] car restoration is so much harder than wheeler dealers []

If it ain't broke (or in this case scratched, dented or flaking paint) then don't go fixin!! Looks fine to me

Your car has clear indicator lenses and non-standard wheels in non-standard colour. Removing the bonnet scoop for the sake of restoring originality should not be your motivation.

It looks good and fits in with the cars tastefully modified look. If you like it keep it.

I think it looks good so would keep it for the aesthetics, id go back to original if it were proven to affect performance.

Original,

but if you must keep it, make sure its blocked up and not messing up the air flow through your intercooler and under your bonnet

So that's 10 for changing and 9 for keeping[:)]...not exactly the landslide I was expecting

I am painting the wheels silver and re- fitting the correct indicators to try and stay original ..aargh []

As far as I know the NACA duct in the 931 bonnet was to generate a localised high pressure area as the air slowed down as the duct widened to encourage air to blow down and over the hot side of the engine, where the turbo is. I am all for originality I think the duct looks out of place on a 944 and as has been mentioned elsewhere I have a concern that the duct will upset the airflow under the bonnet.

Ken, you are absolutely right. Wheeler Dealer can be seen also on Finnish TV [:D]

I am with these same issues with my own 951. Son is young, so his car will be built according to his taste. But my own 951, is turning more or less to original. I have had at least dozen different kind of wheel sets under it. I was forced to go to 18" since i had GT2 front brake calipers. Now i am back to old school Brembos. I want to use 951 S front calipers, so i have difficulties with 16" 951 Phonies. Front wheels need a bit modification to accept 951 S calipers but luckily it can be done [:)]
The biggest issue i have with the color. 951 is now Satin Black Metallic. Somehow i find it out a bit boaring. Also it seems to be quite common 951 color here. I have played with an idea to change color to Nile Green which was available in 1987-88 (my 951 is a 1988 model year car). Would it be a crime to change color ? I suppose in your case 951 bonnet is the right choice.

Here's Nile Green

I love that colour ..........[:)]

You wanted it, so keep it! You can always do a second 'standard' bonnet for concourse competitions or resale!

That's lovely, Oli.

What about using Ragussa Green, which is the Porsche colour used on the RS2?

Well decision made today I'm going to go completely original

So anyone want a bonnet[:D]. Dipped E-primed special heat/sound reducing paint on underside perfect condition

Hopefully wheels maybe sold so D90 going back on[:)]

Everything from a Focus to a Vantage have vents designed to extract air/heat from under the bonnet, unlike this naca duct. Lose it.
