Blue Smoke !!!!

I'm sorry to hear that you may be facing an engine rebuild.

If the oil's getting in through the valve seats or indeed the head gasket I'd have thought you'd only be talking about a top end rebuild. I have no idea how easy that is (ie does the engine still have to come out?). Your best bet is to talk to an indy about the most likely cause and costs. They are never going to be absolutely sure until the start stripping the engine but at least you'd have an idea on the most likely cause and a range of costs.

Kind regards
Anton

After further diagnostics - still blue smoke on running so looks like an engine strip down an rebuild !!!

Possible causes?

1. Piston Rings?
2. Valve Seat?
3. Head Gasket?

Any further advice much appreciated. How much am i looking at for strip and rebuild? Anybody been through this any further recommends ? Should i do other jobs/upgrades etc whilst this going on? ?Going to bite the bullet on this one !!!!!

Really sorry about your car, as I said before, Ray Northway is your man, and quite local, I believe.

What happens if the small oil filter gets blocked - sometimes it is seldom changed as is tricky to get too - especially if tight. I think I would change all the filters and oil first just in case as this is cheap to do. I don't understand how it's happened so suddenly - have you had a leakdown test as this would show ring and valve wear. Can the crankcase be pressurising and forcing oil up into the combustion chamber - ie a blocked breather somewhere. I can't help thinking it may be something less serious. Good luck anyway with the diagnosis.

John - cheers for advice. Car had been stood around for a while prior to the run. Will service and change all the filters to got to be worth a try !!!!!! before attempted rebuild will check out breather hoses too - will keep you posted !!!!!
