+1.

Colour match from AC Taylor was very good - if it is bumper only I'm sure they would do a good job.

Although I've never experienced such a fine example of "Porsche pricing" as I did at AC Taylor - I had agreed a price for some work with their sales guy, went inside to get the quote on paper and the managed intervened and told me "oooh, Porsche...needs special paint" and more than doubled the price. I walked. My recommendation - avoid AC Taylor.

Shame the metallic paint on my Honda was a fantastic match - didn't know they were so greedy.... Special paint my ARZE! The other place I use is JB Coachworks in Paisley. Bit of a dump but Jim does good work.

Glenfarg motoros in Glenfarg St, just off Charing Cross. John does all mine. And most of the local dealers. Looks like a bit of a back street outfit but finish is perfect and good priced as no silly overgheads or attitude like AC Taylor clearly has.

Tell John, Paul Ingram referred ya. I get nothing for it, except maybe a pint when I see him out, but I like to feel I recognise his work.

My 997 TT is going in next week for full bumper and body clean up. [:)]

Just be careful not to get wrong place as there is another bodyshop across the road, and people sometimes get mixed up.

Jim refused to do my 911 Supersport cos it was a fair bit of work, not sure how they determine who's the best customer, surely all work is work!! I think he prefers smaller jobs probably.

I think his business has picked up a fair bit since the earlier years and has lots of insurance work. I think probably that's the reason. Surely for a bumper spray he won't mind.

Might be late to the party here but just had my car repaired and repainted at Mitchell Inglis ... Seems to be an ok job though not checked out fully in daylight/sunshine as its been rainy since Friday.

I would expect more than an o-k job !!...they are the official Porsche repair center as far as i am aware .The club have been to there place on a couple of occasions .

Well first thing I noticed was they lost one of my Porsche wheel centre badges, I pointed this out on the walkaround inspection before I signed to take the car back - and looking at her today theres holograms all over the new paint work which will need correcting. The paintwork itself looks good though, no orange peel or anything that I can spot.

The only way to inspect it is to wash it and dry it off very carefully dont want to be putting scratches on it .....that way you will see any imperfections in the work done .

Hi Brian

Well today I got to see the repair in glorious sunlight and I am horrified by it :(

I picked the car up on Thursday from Mitchell Inglis and have specifically NOT washed it until I got a chance to see it with proper daylight and didnt want to be accused of causing any damage myself through cleaning.

Here are two short video clips of my paintwork :

and

Excuse the dirt and sploges but even through almost a weeks worth or rain and driving you can unmistakably see the marred paintwork :(

This along with a number of other issues are being emailed to the repair centre tomorrow.

Unhappy Rikki

I am no expert but that job looks terrible ..i have no idea what was painted and what was not from that clip, but would imagine a freshly painted car would have no swirl marking .I would not have put M I name on the YT clip and given them right to reply and rectify any complaints .
If this is the standard of work being done my a official centre it is not a good advert for them .Keep us all informed of the outcome
Brian

Hi Brian,

It is appalling :( To add insult to injury I received my Porsche UK pack in the post today along with lifetime paintwork guarantee! How ironic.

If you look at the clips I posted above they are unlisted on YouTube - only if you have the direct link can you access them and they dont appear on a Google or YouTube search.

It was basically a full respray bar the rear bumper and boot lid. Both sides, a brand new door and two brand new front wings.

I have a multi page email along with links as posted here and photos going to Kenny Inglis tomorrow morning; there were a lot of other minor faults which I was going to take care of myself (wheels not balanced properly, tracking not 100% as steering wheel now sits off centre, front license plate double sided tape peeling away etc etc) but since it is going to be going back they can repair the lot properly.

Thanks,

Rikki

Quick update.

1,500 word email rattled off this morning along with photos and links to above videos. Got a call within 10 minutes organising a car swap tomorrow and promise of fixing all faults I had noted. Will reply with more info about how the body shop deal with things :)

And apologies for the thread hijack.
