Bored with my porker

sniper

New member
Hate to admit it - but I am already bored with my 996 TT. Only had 6 months - miss my 993TT[:(]

The 996 is just too "refined", great to drive/fast etc but lacks that "x factor". Doesnt have that much character - its just too good.

Fancy a GT3 or even a 993RS - but will lose money on the 996TT.

Dont know what to do[X(][X(][X(]

You will lose money on the 996 whenever you sell it.

You only live once - why wait around to be happy, just to save money.....

WOO Sniper, wanna swap !!
No seriously, I know what you mean.
I have been to trade in my 993tt against a 996tt, but at the last moment taken a look into a years time and thought ..no.
GO for a GT3, they are comming down in price.

Sniper if u are bored with you 996 TT then i would strongly recommend a GT3 but if u want real excitment get a 996 GT2 believe me you will never be bored again, I got my GT2 3 months ago and all i can say its awesome, towards the 996 TT therre is no competition and belive me its not very "refined" its a beast

Good point 'just1', while your on the subject of gt2, does anyone know anything about the GT2 that 911virgin.com have for sale,
looks awsome 01 with 20k on clock but has had a replacement log book !!! http://www.911virgin.com/stock.htm

Have seen that GT2 - dont like the comment that the mileage cant be confirmed.

Seems to good to be true.

My GT2 cost me £57000 with full service history ect, its an 02 and got the perfect reg with it GT02 BYE but i think i was extremely lucky personally i wouldnt bye that porsche sounds like its been hammered and not looked after

riverproaudio even if u make your 996 TT 520hp u still caint compare it. I myself when test driving a 996 TT found the car a bit of an anticlimax like sniper says its to refined where the GT2 is just brutal and u literally come out of the car having driven it for a few miles shacking with adrenalin with a huge smile on your face, which means you never get bored of it [:)]

520bhp 966TT leaves the gt2 standing!

An X 50 is basically a modded 996TT, no?

A modded GT2 will leave an X50 for dead in the same way I guess....Lonman's one for sale at 911Virgin certainly always did...although I wouldn't buy that if you paid me...

Riverproaudio have you ever driven an GT2 dont think you have, A 996 TT has no chance against a GT2 its not just power its the handling too also the GT2 has alot more potential than a 996 TT to upgrade so forget that

how has a gt2 got more potential? It is the same engine block etc and with an x50 tt its exactly the same engine! Pretty sure given transmission losses etc a modded tt, like the one above would be very similair performance to a gt2 given the differences in weight?
ps just make sure its wet and pretty sure it would take a very good pedaller in a gt2 to keep up with a tt[:D]

Have raced GT2 against 520bhp 996TT, left it standing. The GT2 can not put all the power down to the ground, were the 996TT being 4 wheel drive just launches it self forward. Incredible thrill.

Have you seen track times for the GT2 towards 996TT including in wet i think you will find the GT2 outperformes the 996 TT. U have to rember even the GT3 is quicker around a circuite than a 996 TT and a GT2 is basically a GT3 with turbos. And to say the GT2 caint put 520 hp down is just plain silly. The GT2 was basically nearly £25000 pounds more than the 996TT its just not all about power , one of my freinds has a 550hp GT2 and it handles it beautifully but for the life of me 486hp in my GT2 is more than enough

A GT2 is not a GT3 with Turbo's. The Turbo's in the GT2 need more space, so the engine is mounted slightly further out to the rear than the GT3, making it not so stable on the track as the GT3. It was £25000 more than the 996TT to make Porsche more profit!

Fact a GT2 will go around a track quicker than a 996 TT. The difference of the positioning of the engine due to turbo is neglible the GT2 is very similar in handling to the GT3 just the power delivery whats alot different and the reson GT" cost alot more than the 996 TT is just not for profits look at the brakes ect

Looking at your original thread Sniper it seems to have got hi-jacked by the 996tt v Gt2 argument, both of which are exceptionally quick cars.
I think however you may be looking for "The Driving Experience" more than outright speed[8|]
If this is the case, I think a 993RS or indeed a Gt3 may well be the right move for you, cirtainly the 993RS is full of character and will be a good long term investment[:)]
