Bought my first 911 yesterday

Hi there, After wanting one since the early 80's as a teenager I finally bought my first one yesterday [:)] 1984 3.2 Carrera Sport in Guards Red with black leather interior. In the history folder are some club papers so the car should be registered?
I have long been associated with the Ford RS Owners Club & sat on the committee for 7 years. In order to get the 911 I had to part company with my MK1 Escort RS2000. A decision I am glad I have made.
Drove the car from Folkestone to Sherwood Forest yesterday & it was fantastic apart from getting stuck in London for an hour and a half.
Really looking forward to using the car & attending some club meets & events.

The ultimate itteration of Ferry's original design brief (air-cooling, torsion bar suspension etc.) therefore the best Porsche ever (he dons his flak jacket...).
As a fellow passionate Ford man, I'd also like to see photos of the RS2000 ??

Lovely - couldn't have been an easy decision to sell that, but you've moved to a completely different level now! Thanks for the photo.

Hi Kevin.
Ive just sold my Focus RS mate. My alias was 'MickRS' on the FRSOC. Clive was one of the admin guys. Welcome and your choice looks really really nice. Love the colour mate

Kevin, love the 911, you will enjoy it I'm sure. Lovely Escort as well. I had an RS 2000 years ago, yellow, can you believe it, was my Company Car... It was meant to go to to one of the Directors at head office and was sent to me by mistake instead of a Cortina 1600 GL. I said I really liked it, and the guy who looked after the Company Fleet knew sod all about cars said OK As he thought it was just an Escort. Caused a bit of a stir when I turned up at a Managers meeting ??. Sadly the policy was change every 3 years so I ended up with a Cortina after all... Gutted. I've always loved the Carerra side decal but never had the guts to do it somehow. Enjoy, and welcome to the Club
regards
Graham

Hi Kevin, as already said, welcome to the club. Good looking car and in a classic combination; Red with Black interior.
The car is on the Register, you can update your details on the club website. When logged in click 'My Profile' (next to the 'sign out' above the blue band) and enter your details, if you haven't already done so. I'll pick them up in my next download. Just to let you know, due to data protection, only Club Officials see your information.
You mention getting out to events, here are a few I'd recommend -
There is Weymouth Porsches on the Prom, Friday July 15 evening - organised by 911 Targa, Paul's car features in the current Porsche Post. Paul has told me there is a large number of Carrera 3.2 attending so get in touch with him / Region 26, if you fancy it.
Silverstone Classic over the weekend of July 29 - 31. Unfortunately, unless you already have your tickets the Club infield parking offer is closed.
And, on September 10 there is the free Register Rendezvous in Derby, see p9 of this months Porsche Post for details and how to register.
Enjoy.
Steve

Thank you for a really warm welcome. I feel at home already. I am away this weekend with my band but will be getting stuck in on Monday when I get back. :)

It's a great meet held every other Wednesday. Can get up to 300 wish cars attend. Lovely laid back atmosphere also :)

Welcome to the dark side Kev. Glad you enjoyed the drive back. It looks a stunner see you at a show some time. A and my post count is better than yours for once[:D]

Interesting to see yours also has the dreaded wing Aerial ,Mine also !
I have been told that in the early 80's FM was pretty weak and the screen Aerial wasn't that good so the yuppies had the wing one put on . Not sure if that's true but it sounds feasible . I have seen one with a roof aerial as well.

Yes, Not too impressed with the wing aerial. I think it's original though so it stays. The radio though is a modern bluetooth Sony jobby. Will have a look around for an original :)
