Boxster 3.4 RS60 Spyder

Lot's of them with RS60's here [:)]

Several threads about them/mentioning them. I'm sure one of the owners will be along shortly...

Hi Mark

The RS60 I am referring to is the one of 1960 that are being made and can come with a red roof. They have a plaque inside to say what number out of the 1960 you have.

Are you and Claire going to Italy?

The RS60 Spyder is the special limited edition?? Or are they know bringing out an RS60 Spyder extra special extra limited edition as they have not sold all the first lot[8D]

It's a 'run out' model to maintain interest in the Boxster pending the launch of the 'facelift' in a few months.

My advice would be to wait for the newer model

Good sound advice but having sat in an RS60 today at Hatfield I can see the appeal it looked fantastic with its natural red leather interior and (fortunately) black roof [8D] With all the bits and pieces specced on this one it listed at over ÂŁ50K which is a lot of money for what will shortly become "the old" 987[&o]

The facelift mechanically will be in another league altogether and one can easily spec the full natural red leather interior for circa ÂŁ1800

Many thanks for your advice, we have read a lot on the net this weekend and most people have a positively feeling of the RS60, especially the sound of the exhaust system, being a female I love the red roof. We have now placed an order and will be taking it on the Italian Lakes Tour in September. We collect on the 1st and set off for the Tour on 5th. We are having number 1945!! Out of the 1960 being produced, whilst searching the net we found out the 800 of the 1960 went straight to the USA.

We also found pictures of the 2009 new boxster, and I am affraid for us there is not much difference in the look, although we have no idea on the engine or gearbox.

Many thanks again for taking the time to help.

The 2009 Boxster is essentially the same look as the current car but it's the new engine & gearbox that will seperate the original from the face lift.

In the meantime enjoy 1945/1960 [;)]

Can anyone provide any details of the revised Boxster, when is it due, what is the source of the info?
Having just got one of last Sports Editions I was told me there are no changes due for MY09 except red light lenses and that DFI is not on the horizon for the Boxster.

OPC Hatfield expect to be supplying customer cars by March 2009 (due to new reg) but cars may be available from early February for those who don't need the latest 09 plate [:D] They said it's no secret that the face lift is on its way for early 09[&o]

I think current Boxster/Cayman production will be ending very soon with the facelift details being announced in September(ish) - Paris Motorshow?

"Porsche's seven-speed double-clutch transmission has yet to be confirmed for the Boxster" - that's the one thing that would really interest me. I wonder if there's room for it?!

"...economy jumps to approaching 30mpg" - if the 3.4 litre direct-injection engine really offers 15% better fuel consumption, I would expect to get quite a bit more than 30 mpg.

So is this to be a 987 mod 2, or a 988 - or is the all-new 2011 car going to be the 988?

Sales guy at OPC Hatfield told me that I should consider the PDK as its the way forward etc etc

So although I told him I'm a 100% committed stick shift man he was already in sales mode telling me to reserve judgement until I have drive the PDK Boxster which if as good as the new 911 I may change my mind [&o]

Does he know something that we all don't ie PDK will be a Boxster/Cayman option

Can't see how an engineering company like Porsche can NOT offer this system on all models especially as these gearboxes have been in the public arena for many years already by the competition

I guess it might depend on how you get on with the methods of changing gear, given the user comments we're already seeing regards the steering wheel buttons and even the floor shifter.

I spoke to them and they said there is nothing definite about any changes but customers can order cars for March 09 delivery based on awaiting further information. They speculated that Boxster would have similar chages to 911 i.e DFi and PDK but no facts until earliest end of this year.

Isn't that the same as what I said already then [:D] and as far as definite changes go the OPC's are always the last to know or so they like to make out.[&o]
