Boxster 3.4 RS60 Spyder

Daro,
You implied that the updated model would be available by next March whereas when you actually pin them down Hatfield the salesman are just speculating to get orders. [:)]
Until something is officially released by Porsche this is just a rumour.
Chris

Yes, agree that it's not easy getting any solid info out of the OPC about the new Boxster, which is very frustrating as I am considering a jump from my manual 997C2S to a new PDK Carrera Cabrio.
I was given a C2S Cabrio with PDK to play around with and must say the PDK is an impressive bit of kit, especially when the Sport Plus button is pressed, which sharpens everything up considerably!
Given the better emissions and MPG, the standard Carrera for me would be ideal, as the performance with PDk is probably better than my manual S - the performance for me is perfectly adequate - one magazine quotes the Carrera with PDK and launch control at 4.4 secs to 60.
However, I would imagine that the DFI engine will make an appearance in the Boxster (in 3.4 guise so not to threaten 911 sales?) as should PDK, which will obviously mean an increase in power and a significantly sharper gearbox, which would ergo, translate into faster performance figures - I would expect circa 315bhp for an 'S' Boxster with DFI (just my humble conjecture) and probably the wider wing mirrors (they actually do work very well) and maybe LED running lights.
For sure, the prospect of such a beastie is not making the decision about the Carrera Cabrio any easier![:D]
Come on Porsche, spill the beans about the new Boxster!!

...probably the wider wing mirrors (they actually do work very well)...
That would be a deal-breaker for me - I can't fit anything wider in my garage!

Sorry Spyderman, I meant to say 'taller' wing mirrors when I said bigger. They seem the same width but they are bit taller nearest the driver, so you may be tempted after all![:D]

Many thanks for your advice, we have read a lot on the net this weekend and most people have a positively feeling of the RS60, especially the sound of the exhaust system, being a female I love the red roof. We have now placed an order and will be taking it on the Italian Lakes Tour in September. We collect on the 1st and set off for the Tour on 5th. We are having number 1945!! Out of the 1960 being produced, whilst searching the net we found out the 800 of the 1960 went straight to the USA.

We also found pictures of the 2009 new boxster, and I am affraid for us there is not much difference in the look, although we have no idea on the engine or gearbox.

Many thanks again for taking the time to help.

Ah well Paula, I was really looking forward to "blowing you away" on the Italian Tour but it looks like we are the ones that will be left behind. Can I have a drive of the beastie if I buy you some Lochinver pies?

I am saving up our pennies for the MY2009 car with the PDK gearbox if they ever get around to installing it.

See you at Folkstone.

Exactly my point as this headline from Worldcarfans is hardly definite and is not in 2009.
"Artists Renderings or Leaked? 2010 Porsche Cayman S & Porsche Boxter S"

Hi Iain

Of course you can have a go. We will see you at Folkston. Paula seems to have started quiet a debate here.

Say Hi to Janis and see you on the 5th, bright and early.

All the best
