What? Everything on the "Pimpmobile" option list? []

[:D]

Am I the only one going on the 17th, hope you guys with the early dates will give us some feedback of the event

Steve

The ÂŁ3000 was approx 8% of the new Gen II (2.9) Boxster with various extras.
But the trade in I got was probably about ÂŁ2000 above ( for my "old" new 2003 2.7 ) trade in value!

As I said any "discount" from a PCM is good and they really had to chase me to make the deal!

I think the PCM dealer had a quota to fill and apparently the ÂŁ3000 sweetner from Porsche was to existing Porsche owners who bought a new Porsche before the end of March 2009.

Had the "experience" today and enjoyed it very much. Free food (always gets a thumbs up from me of breakfast rolls or smoked salmon and scrambled egg pastries, porridge etc.plus as much tea and coffee whatever as you can drink and I'm sure lunch was nice too)
Drove Manual S and 2.9 with double clutch both impressive in their own way. What did impress me was the front end grip on the skidpan with the PSM off, I must be getting old or have too much mechanical "sympathy"as I didn't have the guts to hold the throttle to the floor on the skidpan with the PSM ON!!The kick plate was a hoot which I had a 20% success rate on, must do better to pass examination!! Had more success on the ice hill though.
Inside the facility were a Boxster, Cayenne, Cayman,Carrera 4S targa, 1988 962 and a delightful 550Spyder.
Also took a trip round the handling circuit in the new Cayenne Diesel, 4 up, very interesting, what a dynamic tour de force for a 2 tonne 4 X 4, the petrols must be something else. Also took a ride in a Cayenne on the off road circuit, excellent even with road tyres but althouygh its a dynamic success and the interior is fine why does it look as if its been thrashed with the ugly stick. Beauty, eye , beholder what were they designers thinking of?
I think I did see some "sales persons" but there was no "hard sell" just encouragement to enjoy oneself which I did!

Well done with the 8% talking to the sales people at Porsche bash yesterday you would think these cars are rocking horse doo doo [:D]

I arrived at 9.45 and left at 3.30 so there was plenty to see, do and people to chat too from my inviting OPC

Well it was a great day out and I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the various challenges with all driver aids switched on and then off
"The Ice Hill: The Kick Plate: The Low Friction : & The Handling Circuit " all these were experienced in both the 2.9 PDK (not for me thanks) & 3.4 Manual Boxster [;)] way to go IMO

Both Boxsters came in the "SE" spec and were definitely far quicker than the cars I will ever own ("SE" Somebody Elses)

As the track time was really spent learning what to do next, which meant after my all too quickly passed hour, I knew very little about how the new cars would feel on a regular road driven in the more usual fashion compared to my Gen 1 version. The physical changes are almost zero, the PDK and touch screen sat nav are not on my wish list, so yesterday really confirmed for me I will happily wait for the all new 988 to arrive [8D]

Whilst you are at this purpose built facility you can see dozens of special options available for the various model ranges many of which may not be on show at your local OPC and speccing a ÂŁ65k Boxster or Cayman could be a doddle if you let your specials wish list go wild with the cheque book []

All in all it was a nice day away from credit crunched business world and great to experience just how fantastic our cars are when pushed to and beyond there limits all in the safety of the Porsche designed track.

Really enjoyed today's experience. A fabulous day with a lot of interest, and fun things to do.

Look for a report in Porsche Post....

Superb day out courtesy of Porsche. My only advice to those that haven't been yet is to make sure you make the most of the 'B-Road' Circuit and get on the gas straight away - the time passes so quickly when you're having fun[;)]
Cars, facility and staff are all excellent and the only downside is finding out that I have to lose some weight from my 'Human Performance' test[:)].

No hard sell, but it isn't really needed - this is clever marketing and the punters and dealers all gain from these events, even if it takes a while until we buy the next one...

i decided to book a hotel in stony stratford ,so i can drive up sunday pm (to avoid driving 300 odd miles in one day) looking forward to the event on monday

Porsche Exeter kindly lent me a Gen II Cayman S at the weekend so that I could write a comparison piece with my Gen I car for Porsche Post magazine. I won't spoil the story, which will be published in a month or so, but I will say that if there is only 25bhp difference between the two of them, they must be bloody big horses.

What colour have you ordered :ROFLMAO:

The "SE" spec demo's always go like sh*t of a shovel hence the more powerful feeling horses [;)]

Hi, I agree with all the positive things already mentioned about the Experience day, it was very well organised and delivered with a minimum of fuss. Lots of work behind the scenes to keep it all going, I suspect, so congrats to the staff. If I didn't already have a Boxster I'd have put my signature down for one after that day out. Brilliant cars.

The Cayenne we were in didn't do the whole off road course, didn't need to - being at 40 degrees taking an "inside" curve on road tyres in the mud was plenty demonstration of its capabilities. We were 5 up too.
A word of advice - if you value your life, sit behind the driver. That way you don't get crushed when you do the above!.

Next time - if there is - we PCGB members should wear some identifying mark so we know who's there.

Finally - I was surprised in talking to our group of 11 that many of them had not heard of the Club, the dealers didn't seem to promote it at all. So I did my bit for the Club on that score.

A fabulous day out well done porsche, i enjoyed the kick plate (only lost it twice) also enjoyed the low friction surface with psm off ,lunch was great, the ride in the 4x4 was good (torque on diesel was surprising)
not to fussed on auto pdk as i am used to driving a manual .i had use of a 2.9 manual and a 3.4 auto

I did this event yesterday and agree it was excellent.
For me the PSM protection was key and it shows how we all need to learn better car control if you lose it.
Also the Human Performance, got the Body Mass test done and already working an getting rid of that excess "intestinal fat"- middle age spread. Didn't seem much interest in my group in this area even though they seemed on average at least as old as me - over 50.
As they said its the driver that needs to improve his ability now the cars are so good.
