Boxster Insurance Quotes

My 2014 Boxster insurance becomes due shortly. Defacto 5 star insurance quoted £320 at 10000miles a years. Porsche club insurance through Locktons quoted at £600 a year, limited to 7500 miles a year only difference Locktons allow 2 track days a year which I don't want.

Come on Porsche club aren't you meant to save me money not cost me

Locktons seem to favour classic cars, my quote was hugely uncompetitive too.

Re: Classic cars, not so. Both our 2008 Boxster S and 2015 Cayman GTS are insured with these guys with no 'sensible' car to reduce the quote.

The Cayman is a commuter car. Came in at the same as our previous company (RSA) but with the benefit of track day, European breakdown cover etc

Lockton's "PCGB Director" flag worked then.

David, at no time did I mention to the person on the phone that I was a Director of the Club, it is wrong for you to suggest that I would receive preferential treatment.

Nick

The "[:)]" is there to show that my comment was meant as a joke.

I'm sure no-one would suggest you would do anything untoward, I'm certainly not.

No worries David. If I ever thought I were treated in a special way I would be calling foul.

I have reported this in the past on here, I have offered Locktons the opportunity to quote every year now since we bought the Boxster in 2013 and the are always twice as much as Porsche Insurance (Marsh) who we have remained with now every year, we got similar ridiculous quotes, we were quoted £660 in February this year when Porsche Insurance came in at £303. I don't see why PCGB keep allowing them to promote themselves, no doubt because they sponsor events but one has to ask where the sponsorship money is coming from, high insurance premiums no doubt!

I insured my 981 3.4s 2012 with Adrian Flux,£260 fully comp with up to £20k to drive some one else's car

When I got a quote from Locktons they were significantly more than Porsche Insurance. When I told Lockton they dropped their price to just below Porsche Insurance so I went with them. Not sure I'd do the same again, however. I just assumed that PCGB members would get a cheaper quote from the Club's preferred insurer on the basis that all member's cars are by definition cherished vehicles, regardless of age,. If not, what's the point?

Just renewing today with Marsh (Porsche Insurance) at £360.22. For broadly similar cover Locktons initially quoted £438.00 but managed to do a bit better; unfortunately it was nowhere near Marsh's. I didn't have the heart to mention to either that Saga had quoted £219.27 [;)]....

Although I'm a bit long in the tooth, as is my Boxster, my insurance for the next twelve months is £136.00 plus a £20.00 'handling fee'. Fully Comprehensive with SAGA.
She who must be obeyed has a 1.9 litre VW Golf and pays just over £500.00 and I have an Autosleeper Sandhurst motorhome which costs me just above £350.00 a year.
I would just prefer to pay once a year for the vehicles on one single policy as they're all insured through SAGA. It would save me and SAGA time but the are unable, I'm told, for this to be done. I did have a fleet of coaches many many years ago, recovery vehicles and hire cars.........all on one policy! It's not rocket science is it.

Did a quote for insurance with saga £405 seems a bit odd there could be that much difference as i am long in the tooth also

I may be wrong but I was under the impression Saga was underwritten by Aviva as is Porsche Insurance via Marsh. I tried Aviva direct and they could not come close to what Marsh quoted me for my 981 Spyder in April . I have a multi policy with Admiral for my other cars and they where even cheaper for the Spyder but for the extra ££££ on a new car with an agreed value I was happy to go with Marsh. Tried Saga also and where not even close even being a senior. It's the same every year trawling the WWW to get the best deal loyalty does not count now [:(]

Saga won't even quote for my turbo! Maybe they think old timers shouldn't be let loose in such beasts! Got a quote of £150 for the mobility scooter.....[:D]

Saga refused to quote for my 981 Spyder so I had to take out a new policy with Aviva. The Macan was insured with Saga until earlier this month but is now on an Aviva multi policy with the Spyder. Was cheaper and more convenient to do it this way. Will be asking Marsh for a quote when my renewal is due in March as I have used them in the past. I did try Lockton's when I was looking to insure the Spyder but their quote was higher than Aviva's (can't remember the figures).

Hi Bellaboots,
Not a clue as to why the quotation you received from Saga is what it is.
I have had no claims for more years than I care to remember, I've been a member of The Institute of Advanced Motorists for thirty three years, I do less than five thousand miles a year in the Boxster which will be eighteen years old this coming year and covered a total of 60051 miles and like I said am a bit long in the tooth, seventy two years young. I've been with Saga many years which might have some reflection on my premium but I doubt it very much. Oh, I live in the middle of nowhere......if we get a new postperson I get no mail as he or she can't find me!!
Hope you find cover at better price than £405.00.
Nowt so strange as the minefield of motor insurance.

All Boxster 986 models are now officially included in Porsche's classic programme, now so hopefully Locktons will begin to quote more favourably in future for PCGB members owning this classic Porsche, he said optimistically [;)].
