Boxster Insurance

Hello All

This is my first post, and the site recommended by a friend who is a 996 owner. I am in the market (possibly) for a new 2004 2.7 Boxster. Want to do my homework first, and would appreciate anyones experience/recommendations for a decent insurance company.
I appreciate cheap is not always best, but am looking for good value for money! Any contact details would be great.
Thanks in advance Rob

My insurance is due for renewal on 15th of July. I finally sorted it out, ounce and for all, yesterday.

I have been with Direct Line for 10 years. For my '02 2.7 I have been paying in the order of £1200 P/A. They have always been extremely good and I can't say I have any complaints. After 10 years of my loyalty though I asked them if they were going to start to return the loyalty. Well we all know the reply.

So, I have been hunting and to cut a long story short, it came to a fight out between 2.

Liverpool Victoria & First Alternative (big brother to Esure). Both prices were a whisler over £700. Compared all the small print and coverage. Finally went with LV.

It came down to more basic coverage. i.e. no mileage limit, business use as standard. Park it on the drive, in the garage anywhere, and the excess was lower.

No experience of claims though, so fingers crossed I never need to.

I called eSure and they now have a 'posh' cars division (First Alternative). First Alternative quoted me 700GBP all in. You need to have no claims for 4 years or more I think. No claims with them yet but very good service so far. They do charge 12-15 quid to make any alterations to your policy - cover notes for courtesy cars for example.

Liverpool victoria seem particularly good with the Boxster, and don't demand tracking devices. Ditto with eSure, who don't discount for trackers either.

Direct Line, NU and many others require tracking devices

It's a post code lottery. You just have to bite the bullet and ring around.

But for the past 2 years my lottery winners have been Quoteline Direct.

My insurance was due for renewal and got a qoute of £650, with full no claims and 3 pionts...[:)]

Not too bad, but as I was with e-sure they reward good(!) drivers with no pionts and at least 4 years no claims bonus. Previous years policy was only £570 which I thought was bloody brilliant!!! [:D]

Regarding buying a new boxster, you will not be disappointed. Mine is now 2 years old and still feels fresh and is a pleasure to drive!!!

Try Axa - excellent web and telephone service, best speak to the nice people in Darlington, UK and say you were recommended to them. I've just arranged insurance for my now imminent (before the summer is well and truly over!) 3.2S at about £650 and I'm under 40! Good luck.

Got a one year old S up for grabs. One year Porsche warranty. Black metallic with black leather interior. 18" turbo wheels. Computer, ali pack, sound up grade and sports seats.

7000 miles with 100 on a new engine.

Welcome,
try Lloyds TSB with full European recovery and £100 excess under £600 with 3yrs no claims no limted mileage and no problems so far.

Try Performance Marque - I have always found them good to deal with and cver includes track days if you think you will be interested in taking part.

I was shocked to get the best quote from Porsche Insurance Services. Better than any comparison site and Swiftcover (who would not insure my wife on the car

Get a copy of 911 and Porsche world and try the specialists who advertise in there.

Depending on where you live and your no claims bonus £800 could be reasonable. Mine was £360 last renewal at 49 years old, full no claims, car kept on a drive not garaged in Southsea, the seaside part of Portsmouth so minor city rates i guess. This is restricted to social use only as I don't need the car to get to work as work is at home. Use to and from work would have put it up a bit.

Best quote was from Porsche insurance services. Even cheaper than putting it on Admiral multicar policy that I have for the other cars in the family.

I too have just switched to Porsche insurance and am paying significantly less than your quote for my new Spyder notwithstanding the 6 penalty points incurred with my previous 996!
