Depends on the key type Porsche change the design every facelift and sometimes people have changed to later designs, is it just that you've opened the key and it won't now close? If so the 986 keys ( if I remember correctly ) have a rubber gasket that can be trapped. Also the PCB is held in place by the two sides of the case being clipped together and if out of position will stop it closing. Keys can often be bought on Ebay so they can be stripped for spares or change the blade from yours and have them reprogrammed, buying a replacement from the OPC is not cheap and it has to be reprogrammed. Look on Planet 9 they have a lot of how too articles to tell how to do things such as stripping the Cayman 3 button key down maybe give some useful pointers to what you need. Hope this helps.

Went to Porsche East London enquired about a new key / fob and was told cost for key was £100-00+vat and cost to programme key a further £120-00+vat. There's got to be a better way of doing this, my fob and actual key works well. I just need the outer casing, problem you can't buy the casing on it's own. Regards, Martin
If you need a 2-button case, drop me an email. I have a used one you are welcome to have for nothing.
IIRC the 'Rubbery Bit' is £16 from your local OPC[ORIGINAL: heathview Thanks Buddy, Have seen on the Porscheshop web site cost for a fob is only £24.00+vat and postage. Regards, Martin
Ask them to look again, and say you want the "Handheld Transmitter Upper Part". There are different types, depending on how many buttons you have.

I saw that some time ago and looked for an upgrade kit or spare later head to do like wise, Nick USA told me of a kit from Suncoast in Florida so I got onto them but unfortunately postage made the cost ridiculous for what it is, 3 buttons and a gasket. The thread is in the Cayman section. Titled Key Buttons. To follow on, I filed the raised ridges on the buttons down on one of my keys to about half their normal height and this has greatly reduced the number of accidental unlockings etc, next time at the OPC I'll ask them to adjust the amount of time on pressing the buttons.
