Boxster Launch - who's going where?

Here's an important piece of info for those going to Reading:

I've just checked the parking arrangements - they are doing Valet parking.

I suggest you all bring your "other" car where possible. Last time I attended a launch (the Cayenne) they had hour-long queues of people arguing that the "valets" would not be driving thier cars.

happy daze....well I ain't driving from Putney to Reading in a Frod Ka (City Transport). I'm sure they will have learned from their mistakes - besides Boxster drivers are a much nicer bunch

Park Lane 7pm 23 November. No valet parking that I know of... when I collected my Boxster, the handover was done on a parking meter !! the OPC put the ÂŁ1 coins in !

If they are doing valet parking then we should all turn up on Suzuki Bandits or in 1974 Morris Marinas. That'll teach them.

Unless I get the CBR600RR back from the garage. I WILL be turning up on a Suzuki Bandit[:'(]

Good old JCT 600 Brooklands, or should I say Porsche Centre Leeds, where I bought my previous Boxster from, have just sent me an invite for Thursday 25th. Interesting that I didn't get an invite from Reading where I bought my current car. I wouldn't have attended due to the distance involved but it would have been nice to be asked!

I think that our mail is being read by someone at JCT!

Must think that your organisational skills might be advantageous for their business.

Are your going on Thursday evening? It depends on the weather for us although we didn't experience the snow yesterday.

Had two invite's one from Cambridge where I bought the car, the other came from Silverstone had it serviced there.
Will be going to Silverstone on the 23rd it's nearer to home. Anyone going ?

It seems this invitation game is a bit of a lottery

Having bought my 2.7 new last year from the Nottingham OPC, and it serviced at Sheffield OPC I'd kinda hoped that I'd have got an invitation from one or the other. Three times in the last two weeks my hopes have been raised by letters from Porsche, but none of them turned out to be the mythical invitation (one clothing catalogue, and two offers for me to buy second hand motors ??).

With less than a week to go hope is fading, but just on the off chance that some nice person from either of these (any) OPC's has a spare place and reads the forum, I thought I'd write this note. I'm no B list celeb or a footy player, but I'd promise to bring my blond girlfriend along if that helps [;)].

Oh, and I'm also interested in a new S sometime in the next year...........

Darren,

If you want to go then just ring or e-mail the dealership! They are in the business of selling cars so by allowing you to attend they may sell another; after all, you've bought one new already. Don't sit and wait - 'cos the invitation may not arrive. Be the catalyst for your invitation.

Dear All,

I met with the Dealer Principal of OPC Reading (Berkshire):

All PCGB Members are more than welcome @ the Boxster Launch!!!

No invitations needed.

I look forward to seeing you all @ OPC Reading on Nov. 22nd from 07:30 pm.

Thanks!

Fab

Already tried that one.

Sales person said "not sure of the situation... limited numbers .... need to speak to the sales manager.... blah blah"

And guess what - no one's called back []

Makes you wonder how these guys would get on if they actually had to try selling cars, rather than just telling customers to form an orderly queue ?

Darren,

That's sheer arrogance on behalf of the dealership; despite buying one car, they clearly think that you're unlikely to buy another - or that you will do so irrespective of how you are treated. Perhaps you should just turn up; don't believe that they'll be checking names at the door. My OPC didn't ask me to bring along the invitation letter to identify myself - and I'm sure it won't be the sales exceutives standing at the door.

Gutted for you!

Darren,

Geoff Turrell (General Manager Porsche Cars GB) today told the club that all Club Members are invited to any dealer. Just call 020 8875 8688 and tell them you are a club member.

Del - at the Cayenne and 997 launches I attended they were checking names at the door, so if you're going to turn up I'd advise letting them know first.

Hi Mark

This thread has been useful, phoned up Nottingham OPC yesterday, apologised for not sending me an invite........ and its in the post. Look forward to going on Friday.

Mark
