Boxster Picnic 2005

JCB..

Non-member
Last year, at Helen's suggestion, we had an informal run on the first Sunday in August. Meeting point was Cornbury House with a run up to the locks at Hatton for a picnic in the sun.

If anyone is interested in doing something similar this year please respond and we can sort something out.

JCB..

I'll take that as a "no" then!

[8D] sounds good. if i didn't live so far north (from Cornbury house) i'd suggest ending the run here and i'll organise a hog roast

Well if enough people are interested we can do it anywhere!

How many people does it take to eat a hog?

JCB..

last one i did at my pad was for 200 people (it gets cheaper per head the more you have)but they can be for as few as 50.

Mark no probs, i'll feed the pig nuts for a month and call it a nut roast (joking).

looking at map.heres a few ideas to throw into the pot:
1) Stow Landscaped gardens buckingham, its NT (never been so can't comment).

or in the other direction

2) westonbirt arboretum just off the A433 which has loads of parking and a good resturant/cafe as well as loos.

Something North of Cornbury would be good for me - 3 hour drive to Cornbury ges a bit tedious after a while

what a good idea, might make some money [8D]

seriously though, i presume this isn't happening this year. maybe we should start planing a new years drive like instead.

What a nice idea; but why not a picnic without the need for any real or complex planning. Can't someone find/suggest a suitable spot in 'Middle England' with a nice big car park where we can meet, socialise, eat [bolder persons can set up barbecues - if they can fit them in a Boxster], swap tips and 'chill out'? Suggest the place, put it on this thread, see how much support there is and turn up?

What are your views.

EDIT
I note, with some sadness, after about 4 hours, no-one is interested. Oh well, that's life...

Just done another thing with another car club..ended up at the Bell at Monks Kirby, its just off the fosse way so easy route from HQ.
The Landlord did us proud, as it was an evening event, it ended up as an indoor BBQ.

Last year's was very unplanned - we ended up photocopying directions in the office minutes before departure.

Give us a starter Julian.

I too am interested; however, a 'middle England' location is extremely important to me. Much as I enjoy driving, 3 hours plus each way to and from events is losing its attraction! Also, perhaps, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire or Lincolnshire would attract more attendees from the North and Midlands?

The location thing is always going to be problem.

Someone always lives too far in the worng direction! Often it's me!

Ideally I would like to have a couple of assistants based further up in the country.
Someone in the north (brrrr) or upper midlands, and someone in Scotland would be nice.
They would not need to do much, but it would be nice to have a "local" co-ordinator for more regionalised get-togethers. Just finding a location to meet would be all really!
Someone with a Boxster who has a bit of spare time would be ideal (Jane Smart, I'm looking at you ;) )

All non-volunteers take one step back[:D]
