At Brands Hatch last year I finally met one of the members I have "known online" for some years - Iain Cameron.
Iain hails from Scotland and he suggested that the register might like to take a tour around the highlands.

I thought this an excellent idea and Iain has put together a rough itinerary that goes over some of the best driving roads in the country [:)] Attached below is Iain's proposal to give a flavour of what we will be doing. All prices are 2005, so a slight increase may be likely. Any local members who may want to join us for just part of the tour, are of course, most welcome! What we would like is feedback from the very active members here, as to which dates to schedule for this. There are just under two weeks to go until the next publication deadline for Porsche Post, I'd like to be able to put a date in then [:)] So who is up for this? (Iain and his wife, and Claire and I are certainly going!) and which dates would you prefer? Below is Iain's outline of the route.

[Note: Poll is now closed. The score was 9-3 to the 1st weekend.]

Names:
Mark and Claire - Booked
John and Jane Bond - Booked
Iain and Mrs Cameron - Booked
Alan and Debby Armstrong - Booked
Ceri Turton and Sarah Tough - Booked

Derek Sharpe - Sadly can't make it
Tom Loder + Wife (if all else fails)- Booked
David and Mrs Hodgeson
Carl and Trish Young - Booked
Shaun and Paula Pinkney - Booked

Who has the longest journey to Dumfries on Friday? Please let me know. Just curious.
It's easy with RAC Route Planner

Mark and Claire Bennett - xxx Miles?
Iain and Janis Cameron "" 220 Miles
Alan and Debby Armstrong -xxx Miles?
Ceri Turton and Sarah Tough "" xxx Miles?
Tom Loder and Mrs Loder "" xxx Miles?
David and Mrs Hodgeson "" xxx Miles?
Carl and Trish Young "" xxx Miles?
Shaun and Paula Pinkney "" xxx Miles?

I hope you will all make it to the Friars Carse House Hotel for 7:30 / 8pm for dinner as it would make sense that we all get together in the hotel to discuss the weekend ahead after dinner.

Have a pleasant and safe run into Scotland. Look out for stray Haggis on the road as they are stupid creatures. Watch out too for the border police and remember to have your passport ready at the border crossing!

Looking forward to meeting you all on Friday evening.

307.4 miles if the AutoRoute is correct and we don't take too many detours.

See you all on Friday

Paula & Shaun Pinkney[:)][;)]

Thanks Tom.
So all you need to do now is do the top wee bitty o' Scotland and down the East coast. I am sure that will only take you and Lorraine an afternoon at the most in that little beastie of yours. All the best.

What a weekend! When are we going again? [:)] Glorious driving in glorious scenery, and good company to boot. I'll try and put some pictures up asap.

We got back late last night so just starting to catch up with work - I need sleep. Had a text from Paula & Shaun to say they got home ok too.

I think a very, very, very big thank you is in order for Mr Cameron and also Mark and Claire for all their efforts in putting together such an enjoyable package.

So where is Omo Armstrong and his Gayman ??

"Hamish" my newly aquired Nessie made it home safely too!

It was too wet for him to travel outside so I kept him cosy in the boot for the journey but now he is back on full display.

Thanks, Ceri and Sarah! Hopefuly you will see a pic of him here.

Hi Everyone, we got home safely after 452 miles and it took 8 hours, could not get on the Forum until now, had problems this end.

Fantastic weekend would love to do it once a month......

Great company and great driving roads. A very special thank you to Iain & Mark, like Carl our question is "when is the next one?????"[;)]

Glad nessie is safe [:D]

Paula & Shaun Pinkney

Managed to put a few pictures up quickly - 'fraid I've been too busy to get more done - http://homepage.mac.com/carl.young/PhotoAlbum1.html

Carl, I thought you said you used to be a profesional photogropher!
You still are. They are fantastic! Can you upload some more later? Cheers.

Just to be perfect your picture "Heading toward Ullapool" should read "Looking at Ben Wyvis from Loch Glascarnoch" after visiting Ullapool (on another fantastic road). Sorry for the nit-pick

Yes - but not the kind of pictures I can normally publish. [;)]

I'll change that caption - frankly we saw so much I've already forgotten where most of it was - if you can identify any of the others, let me know

Not quite up to Carls standards i'm afraid .......

BUT still very nice Tom ... and it proves that you did drive around the Achiltibuie area as I recognise Stac Pollaidh in one of the pics.

It takes a brave person to drive on these remote roads knowing that the car electrical charging system has failed and the car could stop at any moment!

Very nice indeed Tom - and the yellow looks fantastic against those skies too. Thought it was great that we had a 914 with us, agree with Iain - you're a brave man 'cos it's pretty wild up there ...

Iain, i put a couple more up at http://homepage.mac.com/carl.young/Scotland/index.htm but I have no idea of place names - do you recognise any so I can put some comments on the pictures?
