Boxster wrecked tonight

Although it is in East Anglia, the OPC Cambridge has a body shop and gave me good service when I had an accident for which I was not, I hasten to add, to blame. Gary Summers is a PCGB member and seems to go out of his way to help.

Sorrry to see the sad news about the accident; you have had excellent advice to date from this forum. Keep all photos, statements from witnesses, recepipts for out of pocket expenses etc. Also keep on at your insurers - they should act in your interests. If you have legal expenses insurance, think about finding a solicitor if the cost/inconveneince etc. is likely to be high.

You are free to select whovere you want to carry out the works - why accept anything less than Porsche approved?
Be prepared to be without car for at least 8 weeks.

My car is off to HB Panelcraft tomorrow for 2 to 4 weeks.

It needs a new door, new front wing and the rest of the damage will have to

be repaired.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Thanks for your posts....

The porsche approved bodyshop will offer a suitable courtesy car, i kept on at them and demanded a bigger car... I drive 70 miles a day to work and back and an elastic band drive Micra aint my idea of a motorway cruiser!

The Insurance company just delivered an 06 vectra.

BTW, the workshop at HB panelcraft look impressive, there was a

911 cab in the workshop as well as some other nice cars....

Oliver,

Is the (Impact Repair Centre in Brighouse, West Yorkshire) a porsche approved repairer.

Cheers

The honest answer is I don't have a clue if they are Porsche Approved or not. I know they have Land Rover approvals, amongst others. The way I see it is that they show Boddingtons on the side of buses - it doesn't mean they sell it! I've seen one particular 'approved' repair that basically stank. The guy ended up sending it back four times and it still looks like a five year old did it.

Body shops are very difficult to recommend, in my opinion, but I'm throwing Impact's name in the ring because of their pedigree and because of the work I've seen them do. They've looked after my cars for upwards of eight years and have worked on everything from a Range Rover to an original Mini Cooper. Richard knows Porsche cars extremely well; (recently had a 993 Turbo until he defected to the Italian's!) and I'd walk away from any warranty and any body shop to use him.

For reference, their website: www.impactrepaircentre.com/

I think you should definately push for a Porsche approved bodyshop to do the bodywork as otherwise it won't have their 10yr bodywork guarantee.

Hi Mark, what I meant with that is I think if you do bodywork to your car outside of the Approved Network doesn't that invalidate the 10yr guarantee and hence jeopardise any possible future bodywork claims on your car? (assuming it's been inspected very year)

Shame about the damage, hope your OK. Make sure you have cast iron support from any witness - I'm still trying to sort out the results of a minor shunt in May last year. No witness and it seems to become and automatic 50:50 (even when it clearly isn't) so the claims guys can have an easy life - and by the way that's AON who advertsie in Porsche mags. I used an Approved Porsche Bodyshop, Premier of Luton - excellent job, car finshed off with Zymol, delivered back on a closed wagon. Other APB's are shown inside the back cover of PP, so read it cover to cover! David James (986 03/Midnight Blue/Blue Leather/Blue Hood/Tubo II's and not much else!{My 1st post so haven't worked out the system yet - where can I find instructions?}

Seems like the luck of the draw in terms of the quality of the repair job. I had this lot repaired a few years ago at the OPC Cambridge body shop. Car came back about a month later absolutely perfect. They even steamed off the sticker on the inside of the bonnet and re-applied it to the new bonnet. I kept the car for a further year and nothing rattled or squeaked in that time.

To add - the OPC loan car was a bottom of the range Pug 106 "Style" (a misnomer if ever there was) with manual windows, no central locking and a egg whisk insdead of an engine. NOT what I expected at all - although after muchos complaining they swapped it for a Merc A class diesel. Beggars...choosers....
