Brake Cooling Ducts

i was going to buy some tubing, to join scoops to vent through wheel arch liners, about 75mm (or b+q do some 100mm silver stuff to vent cookers, £18ish) should do the trick but i took the liners and undertray off and saw that the tubing would pass along the middle of the oil cooler , so thought it was sensible not to cover that area! as i say cutting a hole in the liner lets the air past the oil cooler and onto the disc.


ps dont join everyone by saying my scoops look bad in silver, i like em that way.....
 
I get the impression, from talking to 'the people that know' (and make of that what you will!!) that the only effective way of getting cooling to the brakes is to get the tube, whatever, to exit into the heart of the brake hub.

I believe there are some kits available that achieve this.

Was silver the only spray can you had lying around the garage Keith?? [;)]
 
just copying the trend started by the ninemeister, replace silver bit with silver bit..

My PSI fitted scoops run inside the oil cooler and then blow straight out on the hubs. I'll show you at Spa in 2 weeks :O)

Keith looks like the red paint missed the scoops and covered your headlamps in the photo. Aim a bit lower and your car could almost pass for a RS ;O).

I bought the Air ducts for about £150.00 Had Ruf on the box and are real quality not like some that I have seen made here. They are held in by a bolt that you can not see, not the self tappers that you see on the cheaper versions. The ducting I bought from a motor factors at Silverstone 100 meters from Weltmiester. The job took about 3 or 4 hours took my time to get it right.

Don't bother!! [;)]

Cup Cars had scoops , but always blanked off.

To fit the full kit, you need to carve away part of the oil cooler housing and wheel liners -best of luck!!

Agree, not keen on hacking anything on the car but some people seem to think it makes a useful difference to the braking.

Very much a cosmetic exercise but worth doing to finish that lovely agressive stance, I had the techart scoops with braided hose professionally done not cheap, however difference in braking ZERO, not that I am any authority, but for looks do it.
 
Yes Dessies old sausage has a decent set up.......I bought a pair of ducts from a specialist a bout 3 years ago....£50 I think......straight in the old bin.....complete rhubarb and custard.......Plus the thought of cutting holes in my old donkey made me go a bit wobbly.

Might I add that I am super heavy on brakes on the circuit and I've had no cooling issues.
 
If anyone has a spare air deflector from the Techart kit and is prepared to sell then please contact me

yoda I did the job myself I used Ruf scoops(no screws) and bought the ducting from a motor factors at Silverstone. The nearside was the easy side but still time consuming. The offside is more difficult as it is a narrow gap between the oil rad and bodyshell. You need to cut exit holes in the wheel liners and then you really need deflectors to aim the air onto the inside of the dics.The only cutting that I had to do was at the back of the bumper. Mine are not really working as I do not have deflectors but I have the offside one cooling the radiator.
 
Like many of you, I want to replace my foglights with scoops just for looks (even though mine's a 965- the rare S version had them). The techart ones look nice but are so pricey. The cheap (£50-£90) plastic ones are fine for me.

Without the ducting, is it simply bolt on with the air free flowing into the front? And what needs to be done to the old fog light connections, eg. just blank off, or remove wires etc?
