Brand Spanking All New Boxster Gen 2

oh well, we will all know after the 21st Nov!!! ............[8D]

ORIGINAL: spyderman

ORIGINAL: mascanes

They mention in their news section there is only going to be one engine, a 2.9 290bhp for the entry level and a "Direct Injection version @320bhp for the "S"........... [:)]
I'm sure that's something they've picked up off the Internet - and is just plain wrong.

That sounds far more likely, doesn't it chrisH? I suspect the Boxster and Caymen engine lines will be harmonised to reduce production costs.

However, that's not to say I wouldn't respect a decision to reduce the engine size in order to a) improve the economy and b) reduce the road tax cost! If they can get circa 300 bhp from a 2.9 litre DFI engine that spits out no more than, say, 225g/km CO2 then so much the better. Just so long as I can have a PDK transmission wth it...

Spyderman, seems the 2.9 version has a redeveloped Variocam and now has CO2 below the 225 CO tax bracket and has more torque whilst not needing to go to DFi. I suppose its a longer stroke version, will have to wait and see.
In my view the 2.7 needs more torque but otherwise its a great engine, so look forward to it.

I'm preparing to eat my words on the Boxster S not being a 2.9 DFI engine. Announcement due in a couple of weeks; my dealer has invited to the launch.
