Breakers.... your experiences

Anyone wish to share their views / experiences of the usual suspects. I still need to source a good replacement 'heart' and may well have to consider DV Breakers or similar.... so would be interested if your thoughts. Obviously not so bothered whether you had a minor item really.... but anything bigger, gearbox/engine etc. Normally warrantees are short, prices high and histories non existent so to say Im cautious is an understatement!!

Thanks in advance

DVB: Id sooner walk - avoid.
Prestige: Old school but when you get past that theyre quite well thought of.
Porshapart: Buttercup charges like a raging bull, but he is honet and trustworthy.
PH Sportscars: Formerly the largest dismantler of Porsches in the country but now lacking enthusiasm. Id always call Paul though.
People selling bags of trim covers on eBay for £15: avoid these idiots at all costs.

I can reccommend Porshapart , had a Turbo gearbox from them sometime ago now and still running fine even with higher than stock power..

Wot he sed.....!

Especially the bit about DV[8|]

Only ever had good experiences from Porschapart - rest I've tried have been pants!!

Had an excellent engine of Porschapart last year - expensive but really good worth every penny!!

Bought a couple of sets of wheels, lights, trims from Porschapart all came quickly and as described.

I've dealt with Simon at Porsch Apart even before Simon went full time. Always had good service and never had reason to complain (but prices are sometimes a bit on the high side). He would be my first port of call.

Cheers.

Another vote for Porsch-Apart here, had a gearbox from them couple months ago, no problems so far and does not whine, yay!.

Not cheap, but worth the extra for quality service and honest descriptions? Perhaps better stuff deserves higher prices?

+1 for porschapart, freindly and approachable, as for DVB......in fact no......in fact I cant speak any more........calm calm...

[:D] That will be me then when I can get round to selling the front PU, badge panel, koni shocks, fog lights and clock. I am not even sure yet if it is worthwhile listing things like the rear hatch release motor? Has anyone ever in the history of the 944 required a replacement? Anyone want a steel bonnet in red, starting bid £200 [:D]

Another one for dont go near DVB! Over priced, rude and sell rubish.
Had parts from porschapart and all was good.

Another vote for Porscheapart.. I got a few bits sent to Galway... arrived in a day and a half and very resonable....! Parts were as new..... chuffed..!

Used DVB once a few years ago for a replacement batwing.. Not the greatest in fairness.. told me it was perfect.. It was a bit distorted and scuffed and I had to make it fit. I didnt complain but I wasnt that pleased...!

Another vote fo Porsch-Apart here.

Like Fred [above] I have used Simon ever since he was selling from the back of his car in the early '90s. Always get good and prompt service - with good advice too.

Last week he supplied me with a brand new steering wheel that cost me around £100 less than it would have cost to get my old one recovered by the well known trimmers in Hampshire!

Makes good coffee too! [:D][:D]

I too have had good dealings with Porsch-Apart. I've never bought from Douglas Valley - I've rung them a few times for parts prices and on 2 occasions I've ended up buying brand new from the Porsche dealership cheaper (1 speaker cover, 1 bit for the dashboard).

Bought several bits from Porsh-a-part and always had good service. Parts always worked and fitted ok and were always good value when considering the price and condition. Always very helpful and they do ring back!! I would (and in actual fact have) recommend them as a very good first port of call once you have established the price and availability of a new part.

Thanks chaps....... poor old DVB - its not looking good huh!! May be if anyone their end is watching it might be worth taking note??
