Breakers.... your experiences

Another whose had a bad experience with DV. Likewise Club Autosport, but I've also now found Simon at PApart and will be using him as my first call when needed.

Porschapart never seem to have what i want and are too expensive,i've allways got on well with the guys at prestige and had some good parts off them over the years and the same with douglas valley ive bought quite a few parts off them at good prices and only once had a problem which was sorted there and then and worked out to my advantage !!

Bought several bits from Porsh-a-part and always had good service. Parts always worked and fitted ok and were always good value when considering the price and condition. Always very helpful and they do ring back!! I would (and in actual fact have) recommend them as a very good first port of call once you have established the price and availability of a new part.

Yup well said

Always reccommended Porschapart - Simon knows his stuff, remembers you if somethings out of stock and then comes in. Very helpful.

Only ever used Prestige and always got what I wanted and at a good price, but that's mainly because it's close and I went over there rather than having anything posted (not that you could easily post a torque tube [:D]) but sounds like Porshapart are very well thought of on here

Simon always has been. Even when he was dealing out of his garage and massively over-charging on things he bought from other breakers, before steam cleaning/polishing them and posting them out. PP used to be full of 'thank you' letters for items sold for double the going rate!

That's market forces at work [:)] If people are happy with the service and you're moving stock, then you're charging the right price. In my old age, I seldom buy on price but prefer to buy on quality and service. I've spent too many years buying the cheapest I can only to waste time sorting out problems []

I have bought one item from DVB, it will be the last time I use them.

I recently wanted a mirror glass and a armrest hinge and pad.
Pro9 supplied both for what DVB wanted for the Mirror Glass...I tried to haggle with DVB and received an abrupt email back assuming I would be buying the parts elsewhere...

Pro9 sent the wrong hinge, but swapped it out without fuss - recomended

Hmm...

Have to be honest and say that I would try very hard to avoid buying anything with moving parts from a breaker (even those that are well thought of on here) after past experiences. You may get a refund on the part if it fails within a month but not on the return postage or on the labour to fit it.

For trim etc Porschapart are great though not cheap as has been noted. I tend to use Fleabay nowadays for trim because the prices can be so low that if the part turns out to be a dud it doesn't matter so much.

I do wonder how DVB continue trading given that I don't think I've ever read / heard a single good thing about them.

They continue because the have tried to corner the market as high performance breakers, sucessfully for several marques, however for 944s there are still some others out there who have to care for there customers.
People deal with them for other marques because they have to.

I have used Pro-9 with success too

I have never used DVB.. why? because from the first meet with other 944 owners that I had as a then new Porsche owner I was warned never to use them... seems like that advice was well founded and I've saved myself a lot of grief by heeding it....lol
