Build date confusion

Hi Guys

I just wondered if there is someone who may be able to clarify this for me as this is the first time in 30 years of owning Porsche cars that I have specified a new car build from Porsche.

I put in my order in July and was given an October build with a possible delivery date sometime in November.

Now that I am finally able to use the 'My Porsche' section on the Porsche UK website (it took 3 weeks for them to sort out my access!) I can see that there are 5 steps to the build / delivery process.

According to the website it states the following:

Further down it says:

The last states that my car is 'near production'. This appears to be quiet soon and well over a month before the October build date.

Usually the factory in Stuttgart closes for the whole of August for holidays /retooling etc, so maybe due to CV19 they kept it open and brought production forward.

I have contacted the PC but no reply as yet.

Could this mean I may get the car sooner? Or is that wishful thinking.

Any insight would be helpfull.

Hi Peter,

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but the feature you've got there was announced a few days after my car was 'locked down' just before lockdown but wasn't actually live until June'ish... They were saying you're going to receive pictures of various stages of your car being 'built', it would be cool to see those posted here

It was all done by magic - certainly not by me, so I expect it was Stuttgart.

The pictures look like they came from the configurator.

I have not come across this before for Uk ordered cars. I understand it has been active in the States for quite a while, which included the shipment of the cars.

The last one I ordered it was the Porsche sales & vehicle management system with different codes indicating what stage the car was on. I was getting this from the sales exec.

Having now spoken to the supplying PC it appears that the 'My Porsche' may be misleading and possibly jumped the gun a little.

I was getting a tad excited that maybe my car would be coming to me sooner, but it appears that the build will be finished around mid-October. Delivery some weeks later ..............

On the hand over day it will be collected by covered trailer and taken to Black Magic in Carlisle for detailing, Ceramic Pro 9H and then additional PPF protection. Thanks to R22 RO Mike Trotter for the recommendation and introduction.
