Hi everyone
I am looking to buy my first ever 944 and saw the advert below. Can I please have some thoughts about this one and if someone knows the dealer?
Regards
Soli

Never heard of the dealership nor seen the car before. Thoughts on looking at the pics: The aftermarket sills are my cuppa - what are they hiding ? Sill corrosion can be VERY expensive on these cars..... The D90's having been messed with and arent the correct size IIRC, the tyre picture is the rear N/S the later Turbos came with 8j fronts (225) and 9J rears (245) combination. The rear disc shown through wheel also looks a bit rusty too... Interior is not nice (80's fashion.....), I thought most Turbo's had leather ? I'd check the options sticker in the boot to see if all the extras correspond with advert. 66k is low mileage for a 1989/90 car, still high price though and I'd be asking the question what/where has the car been when it's not been driven. Chris

I was going to say something, but will restrain myself to say - the forum search function is your friend. They've been discussed at some length several times in the past.

thanks a lot for this. yes it had long spells of not being driven. they said the sills are perfect underneath but its a long drive to check... also the colour of the rubber around the back window and top of doors doesnt seem right...

yes, the forum search facility. the following link will give you the results in the 944 forum: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/searchpro.asp?phrase=autograph&author=&forumid=15&topicreply=both&message=body&timeframe=%3E&timefilter=0&language=single&top=300&criteria=AND&submitbutton=+OK+ They seem to have redone the web-site so some of the linked ads - the infamous 924 trouser snake for example - no longer show up.
ORIGINAL: soli you mean use the searh function to look up the shop?

i managed to bring some comments from Spetember last year. very funny... maybe I shouldnt travel from London just to see this one I really want to buy my 944 already but so hard to find one which really lives up to the description and is worth it...

When I needed some replacement stone guards these guys were the cheapest, I paid 20% more to buy them elsewhere rather than from this dealer.

Aftermarket rear spoiler looks naff and the side skirts could be hiding all sorts. Mileage is good, depending on owners and what history/receipts there are to back it up?? For around Ă‚ÂŁ9k if you wait the right car will come up. I know of a Red Turbo S which is south of London that looks a far better car and has genuine providence to back up the Ă‚ÂŁ75k mileage

Hi Soli, Got your email, so replying here. [:)] The dealer has stocked some shocking dross before, but this could still be a good car for all I know. There's no need to travel to view the all-important bodywork: simply ask them to do the same check you would and send pictures of the insides of the sills, and you'll be able to see the condition easily. If they refuse, you've saved the trip!

As you're in London you could do worse than look at this one - if it's still for sale. Just South of London [link]http://www.ferdinandmagazine.com/porsche-944-silver-rose-turbo-for-sale-uk[/link] Richard is a very nice chap - it's a lovely car, well looked after. It has a few mods so not quite standard. The Silver Rose interior / exterior isn't everyone's cup of tea though.

Wasn't that up for sale a while ago? Only because I remember the bit about the seat cloth, which isn't hard to source any more. [8|] Not a criticism, just thought I recognised the ad.

It's been up for sale for a while - I don't know if it has sold. I went to see it last summer, nearly bought it but decided to keep my Boxster. There were a few things that I would have wanted to do 1. Re-instate the aircon - all removed to the bulkhead 2. paint wheels & calipers the right colour 3. Put a quieter exhaust on Some people might not worry about any of these Richard had refitted the amber indicators and lozenge wheel when I saw it

The Silver Rose market is a strange one. Some sell fast for silly money, others seem to sit for ages. I think we need to see pictures of Martin's new one? [8|] As with all 944s, the advice has to be look for the best, with all the bills and pictures. Or spend less, but go in with your eyes open and a decent restoration fund, and do the work to your own standards.

That car (Siverose) has now sold and is now residing in the Cumbria region. Regards the white car....................NO, buy a standrad looking car and not one that has been maxed up with daft bodykits, they are far better looking as Porsche intended, said garage seem to have "restored" and "tastefully" modified a few 944's with questionable results, they are due a visit by the taste and style Police shortly..........surely ! I would be very wary of the stick on sill extensions, there could well be a couple of grands worth of rot under there. Sit tight and something will surface that is worth buying.

I spent a year looking for a good 924, endlessly scanning the small ads to find a good one. Needless to say Auto-Graph cars featured regularly, and I have never seen such a parade of over-priced, tarted up old dogs, described in glowing terms. I wouldn't cross the road to look at one of their cars, let alone drive from London. As others have said, search a few 924 or 944 forums, you'll soon get a measure of this lot. Avoid. []

Just been reading my 911 &PW and there is a turbo in the tried and tested section, link to the car [link=http://www.maundrelland.co.uk/porsche-944-turbo-beautiful-example-in-oxfordshire-for-sale-3350841]here[/link] at maundrellandco.

Looks very nice - would have to be perfect at that price though.

Looks a nice car and in good condition. If the service is good and the belts etc. have been changed recently and the bodywork is as good as it looks it could be worth a viewing
