Buying a Boxster

I am just wondering if the clutch wear on a 2.7 is less than on the "S"? Less power to deal with? So it might last longer too? I was reading around some of the buyers guides and the main message that I am getting is what was said by akwaugh - the newer the car the better... It seems to me that there were a number of issues with the new engine... which makes me sort of worried if I had to part with a bit of money and in a couple of months having to take out a loan to get it repaired :(

The S looks much better (in my subjective oppinion) just the red breaks, bugger wheels and another another air intake on the front bumper... Inside the two are identical appart from the extra couple of horses...

I think that by the end of the day if a 2.7 makes you smile - why not go for it and save the extra cash on a petrol for trips around UK :)

Let us know what you think!

The chap who bought my Boxster recently had me endure the Peter Morgan treatment. Very comprehensive inspection, and having seen it done (and learned things about my car which I never knew existed- in a good way of course) I would have no hesitation in recommending you to PM. The report you will get will tell you whether to buy it or walk away.

Good luck
Andrew

Get an inspection completed on any purchase - usual Boxster/996 items to check - RMS weeping, IMS failures, Tiptronics seem pretty robust but can have electrical glitches. Brake fluid changes and service intervals to be checked. Front rads / air con condensors corrode with leaf debris. Check air con is cold.

Other than that just general items like condition/operation of roof, tyre wear and wheel curbing/ corrosion.

Value ? - private buyers about £11k currently !
