C2S, is it worth the extra cash?

It's worth it, that's why people pay it, that's why I paid it. Plus, more rubber on the road is not such a bad idea, Porsche thought so! [:D]

Hi guys,
well, I went to see the 'S' yesterday, was happilly impressed, (after travelling 4 hours in the rain!).
It seemed all good, owned by a club member, has had it 4 years, good regular use, and a really good solid history, and a few bits and pieces to go with the car which are pleasant additions I wouldn't have to buy.
The only thing that concerns me is the lack of anything mentioning it's an 'S' on the interior, except the tacho.

Carrera S or 2S as it's known has the following special bits: Hollow Spokes when 18" wheels spec'd, 17" cup 2's were standard but very rarely spec'd as most went for the 18's, Wide Body and turbo PU's (bumpers), Special split body colour grille on engine cover, graphite grey painted door step trims, graphite handbrake and gearknob, special S only detailing to the dash and door trims, Carrera S script on rev counter. I think that's about all from memory.

There were so many options available on top of these so every car is a little different.

on the car I saw, I didn't notice any thing like that on the interior.

oh and it's not unreasonably priced, which is nice[;)]
still a daunting process spending nearly double what I have ever spent on a car before

Yes the S has a patterned black strip running through the dash and door cards. It's very subtle but you will see the pattern if you look when sat in one. I think they only left it off the door cards if either full leather or a clashing colour of leather and door cap was spec'd. e.g. I've seen marble door cards with a blue door cap and no black S trim to the doors. I guess it's just too many colours together and looks a bit crap.

The sill trims are again very subtle but are painted graphite rather than plain black plastic.

The Carrera S should also have a black Carrera script to the engine lid with a graphite painted S.

Carrera S' were also factory spec'd with amber indicators where 4's had clears. Though many have been changed for clears over the years. Mine had them when I got it and I have just back dated it to ambers.

For what it's worth - I've seen a few NB cars with the colour coded split-grill engine cover on the back and it looks very nice - not original, but nice.

(& if you like it, just keep the original grill in the garage & put it back on to make the car original when it's time to sell)

Don't worry - easy to say but if me I would take the following action if you like the car.

a) Agree a price and put down a returnable deposit subject to:-
b) PCGB Reading VIN Check. Will confirm if S model.
c) PPI coming back all clear by Peter Morgan.

Remeber if you like it someone else looking for the same will also be impressed.
Take the above action and you will then have peace of mind[;)]

Thanks. Not mine - mine's LHD, six point harnesses, Matter 1/2 cage, Techart fogs and similar mileage but no stereo. How much did it sell for?
