C4S Muffler protection?

Hi guys, I noticed the exact same thing on the rear arches of my mates 996 C2. When we did some research we found an article stating that no further liners were added as engineers designed it this way as heat from the silencers would warm the tires and provide necessary grip at the rear. I really don't know if this is true or a retrospective justification, but sounds plausible enough. In any way it looks exactly the same as my mate's C2 so wouldn't worry. Enjoy the car. Sounds like a nice spec. John.

This all seems to be sparking off a little debate, it would be fantastic if someone out there with a 996 C4s could send in a snap of their rear inner arch, any takers?

Cheers

Mike

I'll post a pic of mine tomorrow BUT as I said earlier it will have different mufflers on it seeing as mine are dansk one. Richard has already said its looks normal ?

Hi
