Cam box cover.....

LOL Paul - I have no problem with that.....add it to Lensmeister [:D] Jeremy - I haven't done the job myself, but some time ago I had the same leak (I think it's a common place for it to appear) Indie replaced gasket but still had a slight weap, so they removed and resealed with something that looked like a high temp silicone rubber and all was fine. Just hope the new one fits as well.

Hi jeremy, it's not that hard to remove, I did mine recently as I had the same oil leak. The cam itself will stay in the box, but the lifters will want to slide out so a second pair of hands really helps at that point.

Who's doing the work for you wolfie? Edd

i use a piece of cardboard to avoid lifters sliding out. Works great.

Edd - car's at RPM having chain, belts etc done. They've been looking after my S.2 for the last 3 years or so

He's back and fitted.....chain, pads, belts and all tensioners and rollers done, oil change and various other bits - now running sweet as [:D]

Ollie at RPM said it was the first time he'd actually seen a cracked lower chain slipper so glad the job was done - 147k is probably pushing it, so if you haven't had yours done, I'd recommend it. Worth noting......the upper chain slipper is available for about £7, however the lower slipper part no. 928 105 347 01 is no longer available. Amazingly though, you can buy a 'chain tensioner kit' which comprises the upper and lower slipper pads and a couple of screws for...............wait for it...... £63 [8|][:(].....nice one Porsche !

I have to say the cam cover looks so much better in silver!! I'm usually one for originality (even down to keeping the orange inidcator lenses) but I think I'm going to do the same to my S2!

Aargh....you're right Paul - I'll have to get a spare sprayed up ready for when the belts are due for re tensioning [:D]

Holy thread resurrection Batman!......is 6 years a record? IMHO, maybe original, but beige was always an odd and bad choice.

Hi Richard-off topic but i saw quite recently you no longer have 944S2 -sorry have not kept in touch life and things have got in the

way.I always thought it was a keeper and hope nothing serious has made you give it up.

I am still with my blue one and weather permitting off to simply Porsche tomorrow and going down to Le Mans for the classic whatever -as all booked.

Still not driving it enough but hope to remedy this year.I think you may still have my e-mail and mobile no. Would love to have a chat and catch up.

Cheers

Ron

Hi Ron, good to hear from you. There is a story which I'll be posting later in a separate thread. Back on topic, if your cam cover was looking a bit tatty, I still don't understand why anyone would choose beige to refresh it rather than just about any other colour. And for originality doesn't count - still looks a bit naff IMHO.
