CAM COVER CRACK!?!

Just checking the oil when I discovered a hairline crack running down the front of the rhs cam cover! I prodded gently (engine was cold) and it felt like a bit of plastic (!?) that would come off without much persuasion. Have driven since and it is still in place. Is this something serious or just cosmetic or both? Will try to insert a picture. Any thoughts/ideas would be much appreciated. The car is a 1995 GTS, without mods, as far as I know.

Interesting...I dont think its serious but ring Adrian Clarke (PCGB tech advisor) and he will know ...07941-906776

Gene, its almost certainly just the paint flaking off - not serious, but annoying. Very common on the 32 valve cars. Many people get them repainted, but its a time consuming job as the manifold has to come off, and then you might aswell get the rocker covers painted aswell. Short term, you may just prefer to touch the paint up.
