Cambelt change frequency

Xenon. Thanks for posting that very informative piece on oils. Some really good points, so many in fact that I will 'save' it to re-read again [:D]
 
Are we not getting a little off topic here guys, riveting though this oil discussion is lol yawn[;)]

I have wondered what effect climatic conditions have on the cambelt. I would have thought that if anything our mild but often damp climate is good for belts? perhaps doesn't dry up and crack or split so easilly?

Seems however that our stop start driving is not good on many parts of the car and I would have thought that a car that is used as a daily driver and does say 20K miles a year (motorways etc) could probably go 45K+ on the belts without problems?
