As far as know he has been asking a little while, anyone in the Sevenoaks area?

As far as know he has been asking a little while

Looking at the R25 ROs, they last logged in to the forum in 2010 (Phil), and 2012 (Pearl). I guess they aren't exactly promoting the forum as a place to ask questions from Region members, lol!

I suggest that Andy might need to pick up the phone and ask for help, he might be waiting for that lift for a very long time if he only asks on the R25 forum......[]

I don't quite see why you've quoted a post from 2011. He has posted in the event thread at the top so has access to phone numbers etc.

It is rather odd!

Given that Andy has only posted 4 times in 5 or 6 years (twice in 2011 and twice this week) I would suggest a response is unlikely.

It does go show that the world is an interesting place though, joining a car club but being unable to drive; still I guess it doesn't stop you appreciating beauty.

Well I response I shall give I would like a lift Thursday the reason I joined years ago was find others who liked the club. And people who like me have a disability I wolûd like to see a register for others who are disabled. 2 its the best club I have joined love reading PP. All the other clubs I've been in could not care a 924 VW about people who can't drive and what they think of a club . Going back to PP it has what I like about a club a magazine that I love reading all the news , I must say a big thanks to Chris hack for putting my name in the good wood
Report that's the only big thing a go to and get to chat to very kind people from club hq and from Porsche to

Andy you know they meet at brands and that is near Borough green Station
If you Can make it just the one time you will surely meet someone there who would take you on
Other occasions .Meantime send an E mail to Phil and Pearl and tell them of your interest
And ask If they know someone who could give you a lift
Good luck

Maybe someone could pick up tomorrow evening?

Is that Andy, who last logged on in January? Or the Kent region team, who don't seem to use the forum? [&o]

The Kent ROs last logged in August 2012, and January 2010. They are unlikely to find Andy a lift tomorrow! [;)]

Pehaps I can suggest some light reading for R25:

Pigeon vs telephone: which worked best in the trenches? [:D]

Being on computers and the forum is not a prerequisite for a good RO. Nick of all people should know this, as he is only R20 RO following a coup d'etat to remove a computer literate RO - at least, as his predecessor went on to the club Committee as IT specialist, we have to assume he was computer literate!

R25 is a successful region and has been for a number of years - thanks to the hard work of Phil and Pearl. They're a little old fashioned - they use telephone, personal email and personal contact at monthly meets as their primary means of communication. They must be doing something right, as we normally have members from surrounding regions (including R20) at our monthly meets and on our organised trips.

You'll probably comment that the little smiley is showing your comments are tongue in cheek - but I for one do not accept that. You are being sarcastic about a couple who do a heck of a good job for R25, about a small group that give them a lot of help, and about a group of members who appreciate the effort all these people put into our region. Our efforts go into the monthly meets, the organised visits and the WOTY type trips - not into the forum.

This person looking for a lift obviously has a PC, so is more than capable of emailing or phoning Phil and Pearl. I for one cannot help - we live miles from Sevenoaks, and there's only 2 seats in a cab. As my late Mother used to say to me, "the Lord helps those that help themselves" (with the rider "Christ help those caught helping themselves!!")

Hi Chris,

I think you've missed the point here. I'm ripping in to Des for banging on about a lift for a bloke (who hasn't logged on since January) for an answer to his question! Even you point out that he could email or phone the Region, so why is Des repeatedly asking for help for the guy?

There is, however, a very valid point to be made. We're currently spending, as a Club, something like £40K on new IT to include website, forum, social media etc. We might have to consider holding to account every RO and RS in order to get the maximum from all new media for the members? The forum has been going for over ten years, so if a pair of ROs can't bother to log in for years then it is valid to ask why, isn't it?

Imagine if they'd not sent in a single report to Porsche Post in two years? That would be unacceptable. It's part of a volunteer's role to cover all the Club's communication options. As a Register Secretary I can't arbitarily choose to exclude the forum, can I? Any more than I can refuse to put a monthly column in the magazine, or learn to use the coming Twitter, Facebook, God knows what else.....

The online areas of the Club are incredibly important, perhaps even vital for it's future survival. Some regions are using teams to take on the new media, and spread the workload. Others are not serving the membership well. Sorry, but we need to move on or we'll be losing members, losing income, cutting benefits, and on in to a vicious circle of decline. [&o]

In fairness Chris that is a totally uninformed comment, you need to speak with Nick or indeed the multitude of R20 members.

Paul Mc, not sure why you are giving me an unfair kicking, maybe if you read between the lines my post did encourage your head on response to R25, not that effects me being in an award winning Region 20 who communicate on ALL levels and Nick and Ed run a model Region for the Club.

You are also correct Paul that spending all this money on IT, our window to the World should be up to date especially with Brands in September, not looked but is now all updated and also on R25 events?

Just to say otherwise, while I was a member of R25, Phil and Pearl run a very active friendly region organising many events catering for those who enjoy all the social aspects of Porsche ownership. They come to all or most the worker's conferences and keep a tight ship, always an article in PP, always there with a smile and greeting at Brands Hatch, always keen to help, as you say on the IT front, needs some more, maybe appointing an assistant dedicated to this would be an answer, there seems a lot of committee members in Kent Region. This is only a suggestion. I am as always trying to improve the workings of the club from the Ranks and from time get a bit of a kicking .... but is not that a Forum?

Look forward to visiting Kent tonite, weather is glorious ..... [:D]

Paul Mc, not sure why you are giving me an unfair kicking,

It's in the hope that you forget I owe you that beer? [&:]

Seriously, I'm just saying that there is an issue with some ROs and RSs who refuse to use the forum, despite members asking for help.

By making the point that you're repeatedly trying to get the guy a response, and wasting your time doing so, I hope someone feels that the forum might be worth using by the Kent region representatives? They are moderators, so should be on daily if possible according to the guidelines, not once every 5 years or so!

I genuinely believe that every region and register should be required to use all the various media available, from Porsche Post to the forum, and everything else in between. If not, we're letting people down, as with the poor guy here who only asked on the official Club forum for a lift......[&o]

Just because the forum is not used much does NOT mean no one is monitoring it!

I am part of the Kent committee who help Phil & Pearl with what , at times, seems a thankless task.

Just because the forum is here does NOT mean it HAS to be used by everyone in the same way that not everyone has a twitter account or facebook page.

Kent is a lively region. Most activities are planned in advance and the calendar can be found pinned to the top of the forum every year which also contains contact details (phone and email) for Phil & Pearl.

The gentleman in question could just as easily have sent an email to R25 Not simply rely on the forum.

You are also correct Paul that spending all this money on IT, our window to the World should be up to date especially with Brands in September, not looked but is now all updated and also on R25 events?
Would have been better if you had checked as YES it is on our Calendar
