Good call Desmond.......................

The Golf Club is a dive and I'm no snob.

Come on Pearl and Dean...Please sort it for us.

I have to say the current venue is not the best of places.
I understood from Phil and Pearl that it was not necessarily a done deal that we returned to the moat anyway once the refurb had been done so maybe it's time to take a look elsewhere.
My personal view (and not just because it's on the door step) is that we should be trying to make it something connected to Brands Hatch, for the motorsport connection.
I know we had the kentigon for a number of years but that had it's problems as well.
How about the Thistle hotel ? or even better Brands Hatch Place, nice location easy access etc, maybe the London Golf Club, top class venue and lovely outlook and again easy to get to there are a few other golf clubs in that area that may be suitable as well.

Any thoughts from other members ?

Having been there and done that, here is some info and my two penneth. We left Brands not because we wanted to, but because they wanted to charge us ÂŁ200 per club night for the use of the kentagon! Get round that and who knows, it would be my favourite especially as we can get a car in the bar there. I could just about put up with the lack of heating in the winter and the "interesting" decor! Whilst everyone has a favourite place for clubnights please remember that it is advantageous for the venue to be in easy driving distance for the regional organisers, who invariably will be there EVERY SINGLE CLUBNIGHT. It gets easy to say lets move to so and so when you turn up maybe once every few months(i am not pointing the finger at anyone, just generalising). It's also useful for it to be central to most members. Some travel from Folkestone, others from London. The car park also has to be able to cope and be suitable for our cars, comprimise has to be made.
I liked the moat too and to be honest would be happy to return there if it's possible rather than stay at the golf club. Of course we really should be putting this to Pearl & Phil rather than carping about it here. Self included.

Point taken Laurence but being local to the organisers is one factor but if there are very few member there then it's not working.(By this I mean compared to the Moat)

Many people have said to me that they're not going to bother going the new venue. The Moat was oviously the place to be as it was supported by so many members. Any NEW member turning up at the new place is surely not going to return.

Laurence, understand what you are saying and not moaning just trying to get some feedback as to what others think, and for the record the moat wasnt all that either unless you could get there early and park out front. Kentagon ? nice for the car in the bar but be honest not much else !!
I dont know if the turnout is any different to normal at the golf club or not but as places go it's still not up to much.

Only my opinion .............

I visted the golf club...once

Maybe return when the summer evenings arrive, at least you can go outside and look at a few cars.

Hi All

Why not telephone Pearl and Phil and have a chat about the problem. As Laurence pointed out, you can`t please all the people all the time and venues are , and always have been difficult to find that tick all the boxes for everybody. A telephone call can usually get a far more balanced response than the Forum at times like this (IMHO!!)

Have fun

Paul Kelley

Paul we have our monthly meeting tommorow night and those that attend Im sure will raise the issue with Phil and Pearl.
There is no problem as such, just that the venue isnt to everyones taste.

There's a lot of other car clubs going back there. Just had a letter from the TR club who are back there this Friday singing it's virtues and mentioning the great range of beers on offer.

do Pearl and Dean look on this forum?

Great range of beers! Do the TR boys get a taxi there and back? [:D]

If P & D are logged in, definitely in favour of a return to the moat.

At the last club night I told Pearl there was a consensus that we should return to the Moat, she had been waiting for a phone call from them to say they were ready to have us back following the refurb.
Apparently Pearl and Phil are in the middle of a house move so they haven't had the time to chase this up.
I volunteered Kev to go and speak to the management of the Moat so hopefully he has some info for us.
KEV!!!!

His away till the weekend but will remind him on his return or pop in myself and speak to the manager.
Whilst on the subject do we want to consider any other venues ?

I went and saw the manager the next day and passed all the info to Phil and Pearl immediately. They have made a really good job on the rebuild..he only wants the Porsche Club back on a permanent basis. He asked if we could give him another couple of months before returning
by which time they will have the old main entrance bar finished which we could have.or if we prefer we can have the old place back but due to alterations is not quite the same but our area would be sectioned off to keep it private.Suggest you all pop in and inspect it I thought it was good and the guy was most accomodating. Over to the management .
Pity about Arsenal Heavy rain here in France so they should be used to it and won [X(][X(]

Good work old chap..........Can you have a word with P&D then?

Can we say that our July club night will be back on track?
