Cancelled Cayman

I agree the styling has turned out a bit 'dissapointing', especially when you consider what they could potentially have come up with. ( Some of the speculative pictures for example ). However, I really do prefer a hard top and also appreciate the mid engine layout. So what truly competitive options are there.

Paul.

Must say I prefer the Cayman to the Boxster [;)]

Either way they are both expensive cars and I would put my money into a 964RS or a 993 Turbo [;)][:D]

The Cayman would look superb on a set of 'black' rims [:)]

I have seen the car in the flesh (albeit from an odd angle) I have to say i really like it from a visual point of view (looks almost like a mini 911 or early 911 if you will ) I do however think the price is a bit of a rip off. To charge more for a car who's basic chassis has already probably been written off in cost terms is a bit rich. Pure profiteering, but then that has been the case for a while and it's whats kept the company solvent.

i still love the cayman s !! but i choose 996 c4s instead!!cause of the performence spec , and i believe this car going to be all over like the boxster before ! and the price for this car i reather have noble m400 , that car is siccccccccckkkkk!!!

I think it looks fantastic in that yellow, and with the Carrera Classic rims. I'd be too chicken to order it in that colour myself I think, but still think it looks great.

Damn, really liking that colour more and more, as I keep looking at it. Very tempted.....

Please talk me out of it.....tell me it looks awful in the flesh etc....

i have to say that Porsche's service is appalling. got a spec sheet from them yesterday (photocopy), just a list of all the options for all the models MY06. No detailed descriptions, no pictures (which steering wheel is which???), that's it!!

This is the first time I am actually planning to buy a brand new car, and I must say that for approximately £50k (with a few essential options) is not the best experience I have had.

Called them up to see if they could actually give me a confirmed delivery date and guess what, NO! They are asking you to spec your car, pay more money down (I've already put £3K) and then "we'll let you know".

Is this the Porsche experience???
I am half tempted to tell them to shove it and give me my money back....

im afraid wth the model yet to be official launched in the UK that if you want one of the first then yes you will have to cough up the money before you given a delivery date which is more than just a guess.

as for the spec, i suggest you go to your dealer and ask to go through it with them as they have all the spec on computor with pictures (this is what i have done) which is very helpful.

Read this correspondence with interest. As a former TT owner who now has an extra pound or two, (money that is - but also applies to weight) I am now the proud owner of a hardtop Boxster S which is great. However, continuous improvement and all that makes me very interested in the Cayman - but I would not dream of ordering one without seeing it in the flesh and experiencing a test drive - I cannot understand anyone who would !
