Car Collection

I read with great interest all your comments and have to say that as far as Porsche are concerned they seem to have an attitude problem at a lot of the dealerships in that if you wish to buy our product ,you have to except our level as to what service is, both in sales and service I would not tolarate some of the issues I have read on this forum and would be contacting the top people at Porsche to let then know what the man in the street thinks about then as to the level of service or the lack of it that exists out there .I have been a owner and member for 15years now and love the product but not the attitude of some of the staff I have come across ,having said all this I am on the look out for another Porsche when will I ever learn[:D]

I think much is to do with expectations. When you are spending even 32k on Porsches 'cheapest' model, in the whole scheme of things its a staggering amount of money for a car, whether that money is easily affordable or not, so you expect tip-top service and when you do not its seem much worse than if you were purchasing a Kia Rio. Its my opinion that mercedes does so badly is customer satisfaction surveys because of this, although like i said you do expect this with BMW and did get excellent service so its not that difficult!

It shouldnt matter how much you spend on a car if its 2k or 100k or if its a Porsche or Kia everyone buys to there budget so they should all get the same GOOD QUALITY service. Mercedes falls short at the moment because of reliability issues with the product i.e. rust problems, alloy wheel corrosion, electrics the list could go on, Not so much the attitude of staff. Let me tell you though every manufacturer has issues even Bmw, its just one of those things, If you have a bad experience in a garage wether it be with the car, sales or service staff you will slate them and tell people how bad the brand is but when you get a good service how many people do you tell ?As you have said Harry you had great service with Bmw hence you telling us but i bet there are people out there who have not and would never buy one again. I see it from both sides so i am trying to sit on the fence here i have friends who work with Porsche,BMW,Audi and Lexus and we all have the same issues the manufacturers are trying to push the prestige mark more into a volume sales enviroment like Ford / Vauxhall etc and they are forgeting the most important things Reliability/Quality in there product and most of all YOU THE CUSTOMER its all a numbers game to them now, Its sad . A thing to remember though buying a car should be a enjoyable experience its the second biggest thing most of us will buy, Go on your first impressions if it does not feel or look right dont buy it, if you don't like the look of the salesman/woman ask for someone else theres plenty of other garages out there! enjoy it [:D]

Thanks Bmac, agree with all you say there. I have to say my experience of Merc people is very good, I had a test drive and they bent over backwards to assist me - even delivering the car to me for a 4 day test drive, unfortunately the car they gave me had a number of problems, there was bits falling off the thing inside! Always astonished me they would do that - give a faulty car for test drive, oh well.
Back to the Porsche, I am worrying far too much, and am extremely excited about taking delivery of such a fantastic car. I know there are potential problems with all marques, the thing that makes them bearable is the way the dealer deals with them and I have nothing to indicate that my OPC will not deal with them well even if I have a problem.

Check the car over very thoroughly before you take it away - it should be in the showrrom under bright lights, if it isn't gt it moved. Once you're outta there its more difficult to claim anything as their fault.

Make yourself a simple checklist so that you cover every panel, wheel bumper corners etc etc. don't be rushed into taking the car, 30 minutes spent looking it over can save you a lot of time and effort.

Best of luck

I spent the 30minutes that they ignored me for, to check it over prior to being rushed and having a saleman learing over your shoulder.
If your taking the wife..etc, then whilst you deal with the paperwork, ask her to have a look over it... they don't wear the rose tinted glasses as much as what we do [&:] to be fair its my wife that usually spots issues....[:-] (on the car aswell [;)])
