Car valeting

Not being the most active and proficient car cleaner I had the Boxster valeted and cleaned by a North London outfit called Lellers. A young man in a van arrived, cleaned the cat inside and out and waxed the car in about 2 hours for about £45. Good value I think. If anyone is interested try them at Lellers Ltd. 0800 731 6353
159 Turners Hill - Cheshunt - Herts - EN8 9BH . They have a web site and the valeter I met was James.
I hasten to add that I am not and never have been a member of Lellers....this is based upon my experience of one dealing with them.

Julian,
What cleaning and polishing product(s) did they use? AutoGlym, Meguiar's, Zymol, Turtlewax...

The cleaning inside and out was part of the service. I'm afraid that I do not know what they used to clean the car - I suspect that it was not too expensive. IMo this was a good servie for relatively low price. Anyway, now that I am back from a drive I neeed to clrean it again and also find something to clean off dead bugs. Any ideas for the latter?

if the cars sealed using a good quality wax then you won't have any trouble getting the fly off using just water and a soft cloth.

Helen

Have never met you but you are a darling for responding so swiftly. Am off to try your advice; will tell you if it works.

Once again my thanks.

Hi Helen,

Just finished washing the debris of bugs etc. off the car and gave it a once over to make it look as good as I could. You were right - I did not need to use any cleaners on the body-work - although I used water and a chamois.

As for the condition of the alloy wheels; had to use Autoglym wheel cleaner and it was all a bit messy. Will try Turlewax later. Did use a Halfords cheap hand mitt which made the job a bit easier.

And passing to the windsceen, I strongly advise that one does not use anything cheap [dirt cheap means what it says]. I have found the best to be the Autoglym windscreen cleaner and keep a small bottle and cloth in the car at all times.

Hope to meet you at Brands Hatch.

Once agin my thanks for your guidamce.

Hi Julian,
The Autoglym windscreen cleaner is also good for insect and especially bird dropping. I always keep some heavy duty tissues and windscreen cleaner in the car for those quick cleaning emergencies... The cleaner is perfectly safe for the paint...

I use Autoglym Alloy Wheel Seal spray for the alloys and it gives fantastic results...

Thanks for your help and advice.
Are you going to the Ace cafe tomorrow night ? If so I look forwards to seeing you there.
I will be the grey-haired man looking rather like a Solicitor [perhaps not surprisingly since I am one] in the Atlas Grey Boxster which is now quite clean and presentable.

Indeed, see you at Ace. I'll be the one with black hair and dark skin (All natural, I'm Indian [:)]) with a Basalt Black Boxster S.

Thanks - looking forwards to meeting you tomorrow.

Perhaps there should be a meeting just for Boxster owners to meet, swap information etc. - sometime soon and in the Midlands? Not just at Brands Hatch at the annual 'do' although I shall be there. The middle of England would make it easier for as many owners/drivers as possible to meet up. Now, who knows of a really good pub or restaurant, or a good Porsche garage which might have an open day and who might be able to arrange things or should it be ad hoc?
Would a Porsche specialist company like to sponsor something, if that is allowed by PCGB?
Let's see where this takes us proud Boxster owners...

Roberts 'secret' is that he buys a new Boxster every time the old one gets dirty. [:D]
I'll be at the Ace in my white 89 Speedster complete with dirt collected from Le Mans last weekend.

That is not fair Robert, we cannot compete with your high standards... [:)]
Anyway, stop polishing it and get back to watching Top Gear; I think a clone of your car is about to come on...[:D]

[] Seems like it came on and then off as soon as JC got drive the fighter jet it was obvious which of the 2 would rotate his wheels :ROFLMAO: It would appear Clarkson jnr must have lost his Porsche contracts as he has definitely cooled on the brand only leaving James to defend our corner for now [&o]

[:D] Although that has a ring of truth to it my secret now is never let them get dirty in the first place :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Look forward to seeing if your Le Mans dirt is as impressive as the winning Audi's I saw at Goodwood on Friday

Better watch the repeat on Tuesday night; according to the Sunday Times 'Culture' section, "Jeremy Paxman compares the Porsche Boxster and Mercedes SLK while under sniper fire"!
Now that would be different and I expect that Paxman would be properly briefed and not make an ass of himself.

Robert,
No doubt Mark will see this soon and add something to this string. See you tomorrow evening/night.

Helen,
Now you are on line, a personal thanks for your suggestion - I feared that I would ahve to spend the whole evening working hard on the car. You are in the middle of England and seem to know how to organise events - and I wonder whether Mark will listen to you rather than a new member? What about making a Boxster meeting in aid of a non-denominational charity such as cancer research? This might attract publicity as well as Boxster owners/drivers and funds for the charity.
