car wont start

John, I removed the sender initially just to make sure and there is at least half a tank in there.Ive also checked for a spark with a spare plug.It looks as though everythings pointing in the direction of this sensor.cheers.Anyway will know by the end of the week when i get the new one in.

i had a similar problem with the girlfriends car, car would not start, replaced the crank position sensor car started first time. part was about £75 for bosch unit but a bit awkward to replace. luckily the bolt below holding the speed sensor on was rounded but not the one for the crank position sensor. replacing is a matter of remove old one replace with new one. on my understanding both sensors need to be working the crank position sensor fires the ignition system and the speed sensor fires the dme relay. if no speed ie in an accident then the fuel is cut off. so if no spark its probaly the crank position sensor if no fuel then engine speed sensor hope this is of some help
