CAT Driver Training

Great write-up @Mark, I shall be adding a day with Colin on the top of my list of things to do in my new Porsche [:)]

I've booked a morning's training with Colin on the skid pan (the skid control and recovery course) ... any advice on how to get the most out of the day?

It may be worth asking Jo Hoade (Colin's other half) whether there are any Porsche Club days being organised this year. I have done one in each of the last two years, and have the third in the series booked for this year and worth every penny.

Just arrive with an open mind and well rested - it's a surprisingly intense day/morning.

Just tell Colin what you’d like to be able to do, then just listen to his excellent advice. It’s as simple, productive, and rewarding as that I’d say ??

Good luck and have fun! It’s brilliant.

Just back from my day with Colin doing the over grip limit handling course... it was great. I've always been nervous of getting anywhere close to the grip limit. So I had a very specific goal: being confident to drive through a sweeping corner on the limit of grip without panicking, lifting and putting the car into a big, unrecoverable slide. With Colin's expert help I was able to smash that goal, getting confident enough to start sliding and knowing exactly what to do (a) to make the slide bigger, and then (b) learning to drive through to quell the slide and restore grip. My aim was very much road biased, and we explored the traction control system. It works very well, but it definitely helps to experience its abrupt intervention so that you can react appropriately. Very happy with the day, well worth it for the confidence its restored.

Thanks to everyone for suggesting it!
