Cayman GT4 if only Porsche would let it Open its Lungs ....

the cayman R is slower but the engine match to the car is better so the car is more enjoyable to drive.

In my view the CR was an improvement on what was already a great car. i.e. a little lighter, a little bit more powerful, a little more focused. It was never meant to be a leap change in performance and if you add up all the stuff that came as standard compared to what you would pay to spec them on a CS, it was a relative bargain when bought new.

Yeah I agree. The R and Spyder delivered a great package and the expectations weren't set too high in raw performance terms but in the category they operate in they are right at the top and a joy to drive, adding that bit extra to the S, which adds up to a lot in enjoyment terms.

It's not about going faster it is about matching the chassis to the engine which makes the GT4 feel under powered.

I see your logic

But I still disagree. Just hold more speed through the corners and use the engine to balance the grip. It doesn't have to take much to keep the car balanced and moving ....

on cup 2's though you cannot dial out under steer on throttle at demand if needed, it's not got enough power to unstick the 295 cup2's once hot.

If you feel like you have added to much throttle too early it will push so a slight lift to tuck the nose is needed, if you had the power you could add a tad more throttle to rotate the car rather than a lift to tuck it back in.

As you say it's about holding the speed, and the only way to hold a higher corner speed is then all about geo and adding more camber to allow a higher apex speeds.

but then the more grip you have the more power you need to unstick it.

When you get to the point where a small lift on the throttle brings the tail round and a small pressure on the throttle starts to push the nose wide, you will know that the car won't go much faster, and it's balanced.

I promise you, you will not be worrying about whether you have enough power to get the tail out.

Just take care not to run out of track ..

I think the new GT3 will be great car and the new GT benchmark .... Lets hope for the RS engine! Will it be as good a B road car as the GT4 though ..?

if they use the new PDK 6 geared manual gear box then prob yes, more torque and shorter ratio's win win.
