Hi, My new Cayman GTS 4.0 is so close, yet so far.

It has been in Emden for over a week now. Any ideas what the usual wait is to get on a vessel to the UK?

Mark

Hi,

I don't want to depress you but my GT4 took over two months from the day it reached Emden (in late February) to get to the UK dealer!

Apparently the big volume suppliers like VW & Audi get preference.

Good luck, hope you fare better than I did :)

Mine took nearly 10-14 days. That said, the dealers don't have exact knowledge either and are often guessing, they may get a notification once it has been allocated/loaded onto a vessel.

Generally it is about 6 weeks from when the car was built to being delivered to you.

It's the cruelest wait; knowing that your car is built and ready to go but you can't have it. I wish they would bring back factory collection.

Alcyon,

That must have been a nightmare of a wait.

Hope my Cayman doesn't sit there that long.

My Cayman was completed at the factory on 26th May and my OPC said Mid June to take delivery, but that is looking increasingly unlikely!

Mark

Wollemi,

Yeah!

I would have loved to gone to the factory to collect if it had it been available.

Have you optioned anything like Bose? There may be a delay waiting on a part to be fitted. Unfortunately you're in the hands of the logistics company. As mentioned, your OPC will be able to tell you the name of the vessel once it's been allocated and you can track it using Vessel Finder. Unfortunately the same may happen when it gets to the UK again, depending on how quickly the logs company can get it loaded onto a transporter.

Fingers crossed for you it won't be too long.

Hi Dan,

I have optioned Bose.

I assumed my car was complete when it left the factory, but are you saying it may not be?

This is the latest status screenshot I have from my OPC

So V300 is vehicle complete (CP08) however if it were at Emden it would be V331 so it may not be quite finished yet. There is an issue getting amps for Bose at the minute which is causing delays so there may be a chance it is sat waiting for that.

As you're in the south, your port will be Sheerness so when you look on vessel finder look for RoRo vessels going there. There are a couple of vessels alongside the VAG port at Emden but they've only just arrived and looking at the KESS sailing schedule there are a couple of RoRos I'd keep my eye on:

1. Danube Highway is due to leave Emden on 20/6 and arrive in Sheerness on the 22/6 however she is about to dock at Sheerness so you may be lucky and your car in on this today and the Porsche system just hasn't updated.

2. Elbe Highway is due to leave Emden on 13/6 and arrive in Sheerness on 15/6

Once the car is allocated to a vessel you can track it. Ask your SA to update you and if you put on here which vessel it is I'll have another look.

Thanks for the useful information Dan.

That probably explains why my OPC can’t give me any idea on delivery yet, although my (Boxster) GTS is apparently in Emden now too. I’m wishing I hadn’t part-exchanged my old car so early now!

Good luck Markjp, my Targa 4 GTS has been at Sheerness for about 1 month now waiting to get to Guildford -The trip from the factory to Emden and then across to Sheerness was the easy part- Don't want to burst your bubble, sorry . I can't get any confirmation from the OPC. Sometimes I think they do it deliberately to spill over in to Qtr 3 maybe having made their Q2 numbers. I keep hearing that they need to fill up a transporter for the PRG (Porsche retail group), well if they haven't revenue'd 14 (what ever the transported can carry) cars in the last month then they should be in deep 'do do', so I don't buy that. They teased me by saying "your car has passed all the quality checks"......AND ?

That's really bad. I'd be having a right go at my OPC if they/dealer group were holding things up for this long.

Let us know when your Boxster's status changes.

Fingers crossed both our cars get on the next boat!

Thanks Mark - I'm still waiting for a promised call-back today from my OPC with the latest update, but the My Porsche app changed today to say production was complete (as one would hope if it's been waiting in port for a ship for a week or so already!). I'd like to get to the 'Porsches On the Prom' event in Weymouth on 14 July if possible, as I haven't made a PCGB event for some years now. However, my priority post-collection is to get the car installed with PPF (front-end only) and ceramic, which I gather will take at least 3 days, so we'll see. Fingers crossed for your car arriving soon too.

My GTS was stuck for 6 months!!! Build completed mid September, then stuck in Kornwesthiem and then Emden finally arriving at the dealer on the 10th March. Chased dealer repeatedly, also chased Porsche GB for answers and was just told they don't know why. Nearly ended up cancelling and walking away as wasn't happy with no information or any idea if or when the car would actually be delivered. Hopefully yours will just be a couple more weeks as it's at the docks...

Really , 6 Months what the heavens were they doing with it.

Am i being paranoid now , thinking they deliberately do this in a hope you cancel, then by magic it appears in the designated showroom to be picked up buy a VIP customer only days after!!!!!!! Do the OPC really have NO control over this, find it hard to believe a big car transporter can turn up and deposit 14-15 cars without the OPC knowing (at least to make parking space available)- For me there is a massive 'air gap' in the process. I don't understand how they would be able forecast revenue if they did not have control over when and where the cars would be delivered.

Chased up my Sales Exec. this morning and got some good news. My Cayman is on a vessel!

I assume it will be on the Elbe Highway from the information you provided Dan.

Have been advised end of next week to take delivery, so long as there are no hold ups in the UK.

Owensc1, did you hear back from your OPC?

Mark

Having heard nothing Mark, I chased my OPC again today (offering another part-payment) and they then replied, saying the car is still listed as being at Emden, but to expect delivery w/b 26th. It’s still very vague though, so we’ll have to see. I just want to get my diary organised now and I’m amazed a company like Porsche can’t seem to get a firm grip on its own delivery schedules. In the meantime, it’s good to hear yours is coming soon.

Until your Boxster is on a Vessel, I don't think your OPC can do anything. Hopefully once it gets to the UK they have some control as to when a transporter delivers it to them.

My Sales Exec, emailed me just before 10am this morning and said my Cayman was on a Vessel, so if your OPC checked the system today and it's still at Emden then hopefully your Boxster will get on the next vessel. According to 'Scrounger' aka Dan, the next boat sails on the 20th.

Fingers crossed for you!

Mark
