Lot better than what!

Well I could say the 987 but I'll spare the forum having that debate again.[;)]

It looks a lot better than the previous shots that have emphasised the increased dimensions of the windscreen.

Just MHO of course.

At the risk of inciting an argument, anyone owning a Cayman will be saying to me, "I always wanted a 911 but couldn't afford one - so I've made do with this instead!" At least the Boxster offers something different from a 911 - doesn't it? I just can't work out what market the Cayman is focussed upon capturing; TT owners won't spend the extra money, likewise those who own 350Zs. To be honest, rather than buy a Cayman, I'd buy a used 911![;)]

Putting on flak jacket and standing-by to receive counter blasts from those who have placed deposits![:D]

Derek,

it seems aimed at a lower priced and more sporty market than the 996/997.

I would just give a sad smile to anyone saying a Boxster driver just cant afford a 911. While it may be true in some cases, since the Boxster is relatively better value, they offer a different experience.

[;)]Maybe its saying I want a proper pucker sports car with the best chassis in the business and looks to kill for :ROFLMAO: and I don't have midgets to fill the rear seats so a 996/997 isn't in the wish list frame for Cayman man :ROFLMAO:

[8D]If I wasn't a drop top first and foremost johnnie I'd bag me a Cayman even without the GT3 engine :ROFLMAO:

well im buying one cos i always wanted a up grade from the Boxster but i didn't want back seats(i hate the thought of stopping at for example a motorway service station and having all my luggage on view to theiving scumbags) we do a lot of touring and have stuck with Boxsters cos of the two boots.

Helen,

Therefore, surely the Cayman doesn't meet your needs - since the rear luggage area is clearly visible to all! Also, what is the upgrade from the Boxster? A few more horsepower, that probably won't be discernible, and a hatch; that's it, you wanted a hot hatch!!![:D]

NicD,

I agree with you wholeheartedly! Although some will counter your view that the 911 isn't sporty!

Daro 911,

It may have the best chassis and looks to kill for - but the Boxster offers more for less! And if more power and 911 looks are wanted, then surely a used 911 is the target?

SORRY. dont agree with you at all. the boxster is a boxster, you part with the money because you want one, same with the cayman, you buy one becase thats what you want. I think its very small minded to say that cayman buyers are only going to get one because they cant afford a 911. You can buy a 996 or a 993 for cayman price, so if you wanted a 911 you could get one of those. But then again people might just want to have a cayman because thats what they want.

Andy

P.S went into OPC sheffield and had a serious thaught about putting my student loan into a cayman but then realised i would need another 40grand on top! oh well maybe in a few years[:)]

So who will offer to be register secretary for the new Cayman (Helen?) or should we keep it part of the Boxster Register?
