Cayman on the street.

I would see the Cayman as being a totally different beast to a Box and hence think that it deserves a separate forum despite the obvious interest that we'll all have in each others choice.

I agree with Andy - buying a £50k Cayman does not suggest that you can not afford a 911 - perhaps people spending 70k on a 997 will get jibes about being fleeced an extra 20k on a similar performing, sloppier and ultimately less driver focussed car!

Keeping it part of the Boxster Register would make Porsche's marketing people think[:D]

(And about time too some might say![;)])

Perhaps, Porsche should have made the Cayman a CC i.e. a Convertible Coupe ala Mercedes SLK.....

That would give you the best of both worlds....albeit forsaking a bit of overall chassis rigidity.

So who will offer to be register secretary for the new Cayman (Helen?) or should we keep it part of the Boxster Register?

I can't see any reason to start another register or has it suddenly stopped being the Boxster Coupe?

JCB..

John,

I dont think it ever has been the Boxster Coupe in official terms.

But there is give and take, for example, we have a 997 register but not a 987 one.

The Register Director, Robin Walker owns the decison, but I am just getting a sense of what people feel.

be happy to do it, Larry and i could do with something to keep us busy [:)]

As a current non-Porsche owner (ducks missiles) with a softish driving convertible already in the drive and a dislike for the rear-engined mechanics of the 911, I've been waiting for the Cayman to meet my needs. It looks good, and I'm sure it will drive mid-engined-Porsche-engineered well.

It's not a Boxster - its a Cayman we MUST have another Register!![;)]

Besides we need to test the Porsche agreement to see if they'll let us put the logo on Cornbury House![:D]
