Cayman R chrono

Modified throttle response: push harder. Backs off PSM: turn it off. IMHO it's a waste of money on a manual. PDK however - now that's another matter. Chris.

Cliff does this one not fit the requirements http://ucl.porsche.de/ucl/plsql/uk/clients.show_car?sid_=65059764T08NZTS9NWGJZA1M0P8GHQ7&pnr_=1&lnr_=5&caller_=

Cheers Rob Thats why i have been asking about the lack of SC on manuals. Hate the rear wiper spoils the lines but apart from that might be liveable Cheers Cliff

Rear wiper is a very useful option though as the rear screen seems to mist up more when its got droplets on it. Clears much quicker after a wipe [;)]

Totally agree with Andy on that. Great meet you and Giff today. Hopefully we can organise a all day run into Wales. A&G

OK, so my opinion, although may be slightly biased but made my buying decision after driving manual, then PDK, then manual again. PDK is the best by far on the CR, can't speak for other models. I have sports chrono and wouldn't be without it, sports exhaust is a blast and makes an amazing sound, my neighbour asks me if my exhaust is blowing each time I use it ;) I have the rear wiper too and agree with the previous comment, doesn't detract much from the looks/lines but IS valuable when the roads are a little wet and muddy (no wash/wipe option though). Just my (very) humble opinion. Was thinking or parting with mine but now have changed my mind (at least for another 12 months) having now driven the replacement options (new 981 Cayman S, Jag F Type Coupe and given up on the Alfa 4C). Cheers, Colin

I would not be with out sports mode or a short shift the throttle is a bit dead with out it imo, I have had Audi's with sports mode and they are horrid and way to sensitive to a point I have mine reprogram out. but Porsche sports mode is spot on, also it give you a bit of PSM leeway which is nice. either way you can have it retro fitted for £700, I had it retro fitted on my Spyder no problem. you need to sell that GT3 so you are really to move ona car. but imo you should have bought this already :-0 http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/cayman/porsche-cayman-r-987-gen-ii-2012-manual-high-spec-immaculate-condition/1906498

The SC cars are set up differently deliberately to exaggerate the on off throttle response a non SC car has a better response feel than when an SC car is "off" but slightly less sharp compared to when an SC car is "on" I think I was told a standard cars throttle is an 8.5/10 feel 24/7 and an SC car is more like 6/10 Off 10/10/ On The SC PDK throttle feel change is hardly noticeable at all between on & off but the speed of the gear changes is mega different and even more mega when in SC Plus It would appear to me as an owner of both a SC manual Spyder and now PDK version Porsche have not had to exaggerate the throttle feel on the PDK to justify the mad price for this feature because the SC plays with the gear changes something they can't do with a manual car so they exaggerate the throttle feel to make your investment seem like a must have bargain[:D][:D] As most people on here have advised it is not a crucial feature on a manual car but it is essential on a PDK car for totally different reasons as stated above "Smokescreens and mirrors"[;)]

daro, I got the impression that a SPORT button is now standard on the 981, which just remaps the throttle, with SC still a cost option? Jeff
