Cayman S Spec

Encomium,

Feeling much the same about the "experience" and the non-negotiation at the same place!

We're looking forward to a three hour test drive tomorrow morning in a Boxter S to be going on with.

yeah, hopefully the drive lives up to the expectation....

how did you get a 3 hour test drive???

well, now that I have already put my money down and all that, it's going to hard to get anything more out of them. But I will be trying [:D]

You can only ask. The worst that can hapen is that they'll say 'no'.

I seem to recall having a driving day and a long term test drive while waiting for my 996.

Easy. Ask for a weekend test drive and settle for 3 hours! [:D]

Seriously, find a reason! Your garage is a bit full of stuff and you need to see how much you need to take out. Or your driveway is a funny shape and you need to try juggling three cars. Or the missus wants to look at it and the grandparents are on holiday so can't babysit. I've used all three at various times, and they work. For me they were all true, so either get thinking or start a philosophical discourse on the meaning of truth in a Neo-post-New-Labour environment.

Ok, so this all new to me, have ordered my Cayman and have been offered December delivery but opted for March 1 for the new reg and so I can actually drive a car b4 finally committing to it.

My OPS has not come up with the spec list yet so I am basing my choices on the Boxster S spec....hoping to keep it u nder £50K by not having the sat nav, but on the subject of wheels, I think I am going to fin it hard to resist the 19 inchers in the pre-sales brochure.

I've heard nothing of any freebies yet (in fact my dealer hasn't contacted me in a while), but a driving course would be pretty cool

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 hr test drive in Boxster S, SO and I without salesman. Set off up A1(M) to Sandy, across country to M11, back down to Bishops Stortford and back on lanes to Hatfield. Good blend of motorway, fast and slow country roads and town driving. One of issues was to check SO could cope with manual. She's got mild arthriitis in hip and shoulder and hasn't had a manual for a while, but smooth, light clutch, easy gearchange and surprisingly torquey engine persuaded her. Noise pattern of mid-engine new to us and higher levels in certain circumstances than desired (fine when you want the great soundtrack, but not the low-level whirs). Fabulous engine, steering and suspension. cabin good. Soundsystem very poor (it was upgrade but not Bose.) Overall, an enthralling and engaging experience that convinced us. So I don't have to put tiptronic on my order [;)]. So Cayman specification now done and order official for February delivery.

Re how we got test drive, we asked!
