Cayman v Cayman

I actually like the ride of the 987! Have it on sport mode most of the time!! Undoubtably the new 981 is a better car (comparing S to S) and being new is also 'tighter' but the ride was less firm even in sport plus. Which I saw as a critiscism. Wasn't too convinced with pdk either, I think I will always stick with manual. Love the new display, with all the additonal data in the instrument cluster. very nice touch. The look of the new one is just amazing, but you'd have to spec the rear apron coloured. Not sure about the wheels choice though. Quite liked the new boxster too, it was a right laugh pootling about in the snow with the roof down - seat heating on!! I'd say the new cayman is a great car and the new boxster is a fun car. But I'm not ready to part with mine yet.

Ah, I should be more specific. I was criticising the ride in my own car, which is one of the very first batch of Gen 1 cars. These first cars all suffered from a very crunchy, brittle ride at slow speed around town, but Porsche fixed this quite quickly. The later Gen 1 cars were improved, as were the Gen 2 cars.

I presume that you don't mean that you have PASM and run in Sport mode Graeme, otherwise I doubt that you've any fillings left in your teeth..! Sport Chrono just gives sharper throttle reponse, adjusts the rev-limiter to a harder setting, tunes the engine dynamics for performance driving and operates PSE if fitted. Jeff

yep, sport mode including PASM switched ON! Feels like a 300bhp go kart, happy days! (until you get out of a go kart and it feels soft again)

I haven't got PASM but do have the 19" wheels and like the ride, the downside of the larger wheels is that the low profile does give a greater possibility of tyre/wheel damage so a little more care taken than on balloon tyres and to think I have to pay £460 road tax per annum for rubbish roads![] Anyway, I'll have to set off soon to return the 981S I borrowed yesterday which rides on 20" rims a nice car with some good options but missing my favourites. PDK is terrific![:D][:D]
