Cayman woes

ok, so here is the current state of play. Porsche GB has spoken to Hatfield and apparently they are concerned as the car is due in January and they have no one on their books who wants a car in my spec (black/black).

So, because the OPC will have to pay for the car when it arrives, they will charge me for their losses on the car for as long as it is sitting in the showroom (interest etc). eg, if it sits there for months, they will charge me accordingly.

I don't know how this sounds like to any of you, but to me, it sounds like bull! I am getting very irritated by the childish way the Hatfield are conducting their business and considering how everyone is talking about waiting lists etc, you would think that a car like that would move pretty easily.

Black on Black?

One of the most popular colour combibations on the Boxster is Black/Black

Out of 1320 members, we have 111 with that combo, so one in every 12 cars sold...

Edit to correct figures - I missed a few!

I was told by Edinburgh OPC that I would have to wait until September 06 for a Cayman!!

It sounds like a great car. I would think that they should honour their word. I've had a lot of bother with Porsche and Porsche GB, some outright lies from the dealer and rubbish service from Porsche GB.

One consolation is that you should be able to sell it for list if you were to advertise. Maybe you could place an add on pistonheads.co.uk and maybe Autotrader/ The Times. Then you may be able to get a buyer if you offer to sell at list.

If you paid your deposit via VISA or the like you might have some comeback there.

I was going to trade my 987 2.7 with 1k miles and pay the difference but the quoted waiting times and the offer of ÂŁ31k for a ÂŁ37K car was a bit off, not to mention the sep 05 waiting list.

The balck/black combo is good. I would go down and create a fuss on a busy saturday. Say they lied to you if that was the case.

You could also contact the motor trade retailers associations and lodge a complaint.

Other than that, take the car and run it! What an amazing motor!

well, it is advertised on pistonheads for UK List now and if anyone wants it, they are welcome to it for that price. Delivery in Jan.

daro, where did you find that!??! do Porsche even read this forum or care about what is being said about them?

Interesting Robert.

We must be lucky with our Smart as the only issue we've had so far is that it's as much fun as the Boxster to drive! [;)]

Darren

As Mark stated, and we are both owners, BLK/BLK is very popular and Hatfield would have no problem selling that car.

Thats quite disconcerting but not surprising given that I've had a Boxster 987 replaced under warranty this year and my new Seat has been in to the dealer for 1 month so far for water leaks!!!

You have a waterbed in your Boxster? [;)][&:]

What happened with the 987 to require a replacement?

Water leak in the Seat Altea!! Been in for 4 weeks to have fixed and still got it!! Rubbish car.

987 was replaced due to various faults inc rattles, paint flaws, rusty suspension bits, dealer scratched it and got mats covered in oil.

Just had the new 987 in for warranty work - roof was making loud clicking noises over normal roads!! Just noticed a chip out of the boot lid where they were working on it and that wasnt there before as I checked the car the day before when polishing it!! Also they got the mats filthy again and took 3 visits to fix the problem!! Useless.

steve, you should get your money back on the boxster and buy my cayman [:D]

but seriously, i think that lemon law that they have in the US should apply here.

You're not joking!!!

If I could buy the cayman I would jump at it, you never know.... Whats the retail price and options if you dont mind me asking?

Cheers

Steve

It's a shame about the stopwatch bit - I'm sure more people would have the Sport Chrono functions if they could do away with the clock...
Shame that at the moment, you have to have the clock to get the good bits[&:]

Mines Olive Green Metallic, not quite sample to colour but pricey enough.

When I put the deposit down on my Boxster I was told it was refundable, even up to delivery, however it was a used car not brand new.
