Center Gravity Technical visit 10th March

I recently had the misfortune to run over a dead badger which wiped out all but one of the plastic brake airscoops to the underside of the car. Having had these replaced and now that the suspension has had time to settle a bit since new, I thought it would be good idea to take the car to CG and let Chris check the car for any other damage and give the set up a bit of a tweak towards making the car a bit more track focused. I have just returned from my visit this afternoon, and was very pleased that I'd been. Fortunately, as we know he is really thorough and meticulous in his assessment of the car, but nevertheless I was rather alarmed at what he had found. He noted that even at the factory the osf strut top mounting had had to be reset on the line after the three nuts had been dabbed with white paint. The safety lock on the nsf centre lock hadn't been engaged when my friendly OPC retorqued the wheels to 600 NM on the recall last spring. When I took the car to have the airducts replaced , they failed to notice that the osr duct was missing, so I've been driving around with imbalanced rear brake cooling! I did have an oil leak at the end of last year, which was traced to the oil filler pipe which necessitated the removal of the engine. However, Chris noticed that the lower of a pair of water hoses was sufficiently loose enough to actually rub on the ns drive shaft joint. It is now tied up out of the way! Finally, I've recently been aware of a klonking noise when the car is driven over bumps at low speed with the front axle lift deployed. After a lot of time spent trying to replicate the movement on the nsf strut, Chris is convinced it is a worn/loose strut collar bearing, so another warranty issue coming up. So money very well spent- and indeed as a bonus-the car now can perform the obligitory 30 mph six lap roundabout test as well as having a neutral front end set up, sharper turn in, etc. Can't wait to get on track to try it out. So whilst I'm another very satisfied and grateful customer, I'm also very concerned about the reliability of my local OPC, who will be up for some serious questioning from me shortly!
So I'll be attending on 10 March- please put me on the list Gary.
Thanks, Mike.

Nice update Mike [:)] and pleased that Chris has found the issues for you.
I think it's that he does commit the time to his service that allows him to see the bits that others has missed.

Hi Gary.

If you've no objection, I'd like to join you all this Saturday and get Chris' take on Cayman/Boxster set-ups.

Cheers, Jeff (R24 Cambs & Beds)

I'm sure Chris will be more than happy to discuss the aspects for the Boxster and Cayman Chassis.. [:)]
However please don't be offended if there are 997 on the ramps..

Gary

Nice day out, thanks for organising I learnt quite a lot about how the car works and what to be aware of and listen for, Chris clearly understands his trade and it has convinced me that our cars can only benefit from a trip to center gravity.

Thanks again and hopefully see you at the end of the month.

Glad you had a good day.

Every time I get behind the wheel of my car now it astonishes me how good it is. Whatever Chris did on his last iteration changes has made it by far the best car I have ever driven (including Turbo S's). I just can't get over how amazing it is especially on b-roads.

...the new Michelin Super Sports may be a factor too [;)]

Please thank Chris and his family for their generous hospitality at what turned out to be a relaxed but very informative session!
I suspect that most of those attending will be booked in at some point over the next twelve months!
