Ceramic Coating

Is Ceramic coating is value for money?
At the OPC or Independent detailer?

It won't be VFM at an OPC, I'd go to a specialist of your choosing if you want it done.

I think Dan on here (Scrounger) has it on his car so may be able to offer more insight

All three of my used approved white Cayman`s had an OPC applied (gtechniq) ceramic coating package

T`was my first experience of such `detailing` processes, I was comfortable with the cost (£500) and execution

The roof coating on one the car`s deteriorated resulting in the the entire car being re-done under the coating`s five year warranty

The detailer at the OPC was trained by a gtechniq approved independent

During the time of this ^ experience I had two other new cars and a used BMW ... can`t say that their lack of a coating has made much difference

The coating does make the car easier to wash though ...

I had the GT4 refreshed after 2 years of mostly track use and it required very little work. The Topaz ppf protected the paint work from stones, and ceramic coating protected against wash swirls and frequent removal of other peoples' rubber. The GTS which already has ppf is going in next week for detail and ceramic coating.

Don't have the dealer apply it unless they are outsourcing it to a Detailer. With all respect to dealership valeters, they don't have the time or the skill to properly correct and prep the paintwork before the ceramic is applied. This can lead to premature failure or the coating not bonding properly and runs the risk of leaving high spots (dull parts) on the paintwork where the coating excess hasn't been removed properly.

I'd definitely find a good detailer near you to apply it and if it's in your budget, have the front end PPFd.

Today I went to see an accredited Gtechniq detailer in Stevenage , Hertfordshire and saw some of ongoing current projects and the finished product on one looked amazing.

Use them rather than the OPC. They'll do a much better job and probably for the same price.

My OPC kept trying to get me to pay for it and I kept refusing. Eventually I got an email saying they did it anyway at no charge. It could be they had done it during the pre prep and expected me to just cough up. Ive had the car for 4 years plus now and it still looks fine though how much of it is due to the ceramic I genuinely dont know. Ive started using these polymer sealants you put on with a Karcher and I really like them. Work on the 718 which is coated, though I think the life is 3 years, and my Alfa Stelvio daily which isnt coated.

Hi all, Ceramic coating done at AZURI , they needed the ca for two days and send couple of progress pictures.

I even received demo a how to wash the car.
Very pleased with it.
