cheapest OE disks

I have had Zimmermans fitted to a 993 and I can't say I have found them any better or worse than the official Porsche products.

The one difference is that the hats come painted from Porsche but bare metal from Zimmerman. Most places give the Zimmermans a quick spay with grey primer before they fit them but they don't take that long to start showing rust on the hat.

Perhaps this is the only real difference?

Ian.

Thanks for the photo post, TP -- I'm on the laptop at the moment, the pix are on the desktop which is... oh... a good two rooms and a corridor away :)

Cant argue that the pads appear the same with the same stampings. This does not neccesarily mean the friction parts of the pads are the same(they could simply use the same backplate(they were two different suppliers remember, textar and brembo). But would conceed it's very likely that they are the same. But neither of us know for sure! I have used such pads and discs in the past also and had no problems. But as I grow older and hopefully wiser I have come to the decision that I would rather not take that risk and fit Porsche parts or parts to a higher spec when brakes are involved. After all you already save a fortune doing it yourself why not spend what you save on good quality. I was not advising that you buy them from your opc either as they can be had from specialist at not much more than the o.e parts cost.
my point , which perhaps has been missed, is that you cannot g'tee that the parts are to Porsche spec. This is not to say that the parts won't perform admirably but rather they may not perform as Porsche intended. Note I said "MAY NOT" not won't as i don't know for sure. The best way of finding out is with two identical cars and an airfield and preferably a good driver. I would love to see the results of such a test and also a long term durabilty test too. I would have no problem fitting them if I knew for sure that they worked as well as the genuine article or better!
