Ask again in a week or two when I've fitted the one I've ordered (from Promaxmotorsport).
Please keep us informed bud
Chris
Removed plastic cover from existing chip to find an Accell one already fitted! Nothing in my history to tell me that. Anyway, fitted the new one (anyone want the Accell one at a good price!?), and have had a brief drive. Seemed smoother on start up, and picks up well when accelerating. Will have to do some more miles before commenting further.
Paul.

Ok, so chip is now fitted. Was a real bugger releasing the PCB fom the connector. Very tight fit, and some brute force required.

Sounding good value for money so far then! Keep us updated after the bank holiday motoring!
Chris
Do promax do fitting or is it mail order only these days? (Saw some early posts where they invited people to their premises for free fitting). Would rather drive there and let them do it than my clutz handed DIY.

So where do I find the control unit to see what chip I have installed?
Steve,
It's under the driver's seat on a LHD car. I suspect it'll be in the same place (i.e. passenger seat) in a RHD car.

It's a big metal box under the passenger (i.e. left) seat. There is a large multi-pin connector on the front side and you'll have to remove a couple of screws to release the box from it's home. You then have to prise open the box by bending back the lugs around the top. The circuit boards are attached to each other and you need to seperate them in order to gain access to the mapping chip. It's not for the feint hearted if you're new to it.
Stop looking under the dashboard - it ain't there!!!

Dave

I've had my 964RS Replica worked on by Wayne at Chip Wizards, I went in with 261BHP & running lean, Wayne worked on the car all afternoon & with a bit of fettling we got 298.5bhp. (H&S Exhaust & rebuilt polished & ported engine).ORIGINAL: Richard Dawson
Wayne Schofield, Chip Wizards is your man.
I'd have to recommend Wayne to anyone looking to upgrade there car.

So what is missing from the car in the photo that would fit to the front set of studs & pick up the other multi-connector?
Colin.

Do you know Colin....I was thinking exactly the same myself!!! Please look under your seat and let me know! []
If you look at the top row of pins on the connector, you may see two vertical locking tabs at each end, into which you put two flat screwdrivers to prise apart the tabs. You then need to push the screwdrivers to release the top connector. Mine was very tight, and took some (lots of!) force to release.
