Edd's description is spot on. And I'd forgotten that he has done the 'before and after' dyno tests with an unchipped and chipped S2. In fact, Edd was riding shotgun on the first decently long run I took my car on once the chip was fitted, and it was very helpful talking to him about it. Thanks for your input Edd. (And have you got your waggon back from the bodyshop yet?) Paul, Good questions. And no, I don't know for sure that all these things are precisely as they should be. But I do know that the car was in good condition and running well before the chip was fitted, and returning slightly over stated power (although that could be down to measuring variations.) On that basis, I'd guess that if things are off-spec, they aren't far off-spec. As I mentioned in my first post, when I get a free Saturday I'll plot exhaust gas against engine revs (I have a friend with a gas analyser) across the rev range, for both the old chip and the new one, and see how they compare. OK, that still won't tell me whether each individual part is as it should be but it will give a good picture of the condition of the whole, from which one could probably deduce that each part is OK. Oli.

No worries, yes I have the car back temporarily as Dave is currently relocating his bodyshop and rather than keep my car I have it back till they have the spray booth up and running again. Just a few small things to sort out but all the big work has been done and the car is looking great! I will post some pics when I get the chance. EddORIGINAL: zcacogp Thanks for your input Edd. Haha, no, Dave just wants the car back to put a bit more paint over the new stoneguard at the bottom of the wings to smooth it out a little in keeping with the stoneguard on the cills, he couldn't do it before as he had dismantled the spraybooth. He's also going to spray the rear bumper black for me. Just got back from Paintshield and I have to say how impressed I am with their service, not cheap but hopefully worth the investment. Edd

Tom, take a look on Rennlist for threads by a chap called Transaxel. He knows the motronic quite well and seems to have worked for Porsche at some stage I think. He posted something about a mod he was doing to the stock ECU and posted a log that showed that the KLR does seem to work in real time continually running the ignition upto the knock limit - i.e. it was continually active and not simply set at a level where you rarely get knock and therefore is only used as a safety net. Check it out. The mod he was doing was to install a higher pressure MAP sensor in the KLR so he could run a higher boost level while retaining the stock motronic and boost control system.ORIGINAL: barks944 I expect the ignition maps will have been extensively modified. I don't think our DME's are clever enough to continuously optimise ignition using the knock sensor they simply heavily retard ignition when they detect knock, I think at least on the turbos this is how it works. AFR's probably havent changed a great deal so its probably mostly ignition thats giving the improvement.Â

Yes he is the guy that developed the Scivision MAF (as well as other goodies) and when I first bought one he was working on an upgrade to do exactly what Scott said and keep the standard safety systems in place. Unfortunately it wasn't finished in time for me so I went down the Vitesse MAF routeORIGINAL: sawood12 Tom, take a look on Rennlist for threads by a chap called Transaxel.
