Ladies, Gents

A couple of posts referring to Rush no less got me nostalgic.

An old ritual of mine was to pick a particular peice of music as the first to be played on a new car, normally first time one moves up to attack velocity on a motorway slip road or similar

Any recommendations for the imminent 997

Regards

As you will have a sports exhaust with the X51 I would suggest a break with tradition and switching the music off and listening to the car. Make sure you have the sport button on and the window slightly open and you will not be dissapointed. I really miss my PSE my Turbo is just too quiet

One of my favourites

I was thinking something licence loosing like "Starship trooper" or "heart of the sunrise" by Yes. Or indeed "TIme stand still" by rush

Used to be Fleetwood Mack "Chain", Now its a Moby CD with the Bourne Identity theme music goes into each car I get, my mate Elliot who was with me when I picked up the C2S in dec. wondered what I was doing when I put Moby on and selected sport when we hit an empty stretch on the M11.

Now always a ritual when I put the 997 away in the garage, I always drop the window and flex the 6 cyl voice before turning off and walking into the house with a smile on my face.

I just love the damn fine thing

Paul

Take it to the Limit : Eagles
Beep Beep (The Bubble Car Song) : The Playmates
Three Wheels on My Wagon : The New Christy Minstrels

As it is a German car then I suggest 'Walkürenritt'
(The Ride of the Valkyries - by Richard Wagner)

but watch your licence.[:)]

I had a similar sort of thing regarding the Isle of Skye, before that horrible bridge was built and it was still a proper island. When on the ferry from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin I would load a tape of the soundtrack of ther film 'Local Hero' into the player. When driving up the slipway I would start playing it and that was the only music played until reaching the campsite at Sligachan. That was when the holiday really started.

There is a low bridge on a 50 limit near me - I had planned to save savouring the PSE until then - flooring it in second with the Windows down.[:D][:D][:D]

Unfortunately there's about 45 miles from my OPC to the bridge so I'll just have to play some music on the way from picking it up[;)]

Comments brought Cashmir from Led Zep to mind, U2 Vertigo is very tempting however.

I did think about Kraftrework as its a german car butt hoguht that might be a bit to gentle and calming

A favourite on previous cars was side one of 90125 by Yes or simply the whole of eliminator ZZ Top (oops there went the licence)

if Iw ent claissical, I wonder given everyones description of the x51 whether it should be Camin Burama (Omen music) or Night on Bare Mountain

Definatley Kashmir. I only have a short trip home but at the mo its tax return season so have to work late. As soon as I get in the car on goes Physical Graffiti and Kashmir. Any heavy drum sequence by J. Bohnam gets me in a good mood for driving.

Blimey, this really is a trip down memory lane (Yves, since we chatted about Rush, I went out and bought 3 CD's to replace my aged vinyl!) and Kashmir is a good choice IMHO - also 'Rock'n'Roll by Zep or 'When the Levee breaks' (both on LZ 4).
For a more cerebral moment, how about 'The Great Gig in the Sky' by Pink Floyd? - very soothing but soulful!!
Maybe - The Boys are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy (that always takes me back to about 17 or so!), Fireball by Deep Purple (wha-hoo!) 'On the Road Again' by Canned Heat (very cool!), Wayward Son by Kansas (soft headbangin' rock anthem), 'Zwitter' by Rammstein (very heavy Uber-rock from Germany), or one of my faves for very heavy listening - Demon Speeding by Rob Zombie (no relation!![:D]) - VERY good for speed freaks!!
Failing that, The Chain by Fleetwood Mac or Ace of Spades/Bomber by Motorhead would get my pulse racing.
Nice to know there are some folk out there who's music glands are still working!!
Rock on chaps.[:D]

Radar Love by White Lion...forget the Golden Earring version its flat in comparision to White Lion...Vitto Bratta is one helluva guitar player, Mike tramps vocals are superb...lyrics match erfectly a nice drive home..summary = no better song to drive a car home too...trust me!!

I'm beginning to think I'm the youngest person on this forum by quite some distance. I'm not even sure my Dad would know half the tracks you lot are on about! [;)]

How about:
Got to Get Down - Timo Mass (trust me, this works very well, very loud!)
Disco 2000 - Pulp
Cigarettes & Alcohol - Oasis

Now were talking Oasis how about Rock n Roll Star/Live Forever/Morning Glory and yes definately Cigarettes and Alcohol preferably live versions[8D][8D]

Age a terrible thing

My current favourite is "Back in Black" AC/DC I used to have black cars, went silver and grey for a while and am going back to bassalt balck for the new one.......

Alternatively Waking Hour by Magnum if I want to losoe my hearing

Modern stuff, hmm Bed Shaped by Keane or the latest Snow Patrol album, alternatively new-ish suff from an old group "Marbles" by Marillion in particular "Neverland" - exit licence left!

CRIKEY! Another White Lion fan? I though I was the only one left! [:D]

Time Stands Still by Rush is an excellent choice made a few posts above. What cracking tastes in music us Porsche drivers possess eh?

If it was me I'd go for Song 2 - Blur, Knights of Cydonia - Muse or Woman by Wolfmother. But the list is endless... picking a favourite is a crime in itself.

If you really want to rock your 911 with some great tongue in cheek sex laden lyriced big guitars then its got to be Zodiac Mindwarp & the Love reaction album tatooed beat Messiah...such classics as back seat education ( working up a sweat on the leathette ) Running on Holy Gasoline and of the course the outstanding Prime Mover. This stuff really isnt the thinking mans progressive music but its just A1 driving feel good rock...and the lyrics are really great too in a humourous spinal tap way!.
Do like Oasis as well, but I think Champagne Supernova would be my choice by them.
Also not so big over here, but huge in the states, Van Halen, yes I know everyone knows Jump from the 80's but there really is more to them than that...try out the F.U.C.K album ( For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge ), bit of a childish title in a kind of French connection UK way I know, but again very good goodtime music, and the talent of Ed Van Halen is just awesome...
Hmmm think Id better stop now, it seems we could all go on for sometime on this one!!
