Christmas Lunch at Armathwaite Hall

Blimey,Jeremy,,that's "deep".'Course ,we come to expect some stonewalling from you,now that you've admitted Rob is faster.[:)]

Aren't you getting mixed up with Auctioneers as well-I'm going to appeal before I get REMINDED again about your vast experience -still you upset the RS lot although I agree your sentiments-I can see that you have learned from the pub meeting -I expected some flack from other quarters but perhaps this new power group have critical mass-however still plenty of money if one does several days & half days are enough for me leaves more time for the social aspects.

Funny that - you reminded me of an auctioneer when we were at Oulton - going once... going twice... gone - into the gravel [:D]

Now it's been explained to me that the RS boys want to do additional track days that PCGB can't financially risk running I have wound my neck in. I sincerely hope that our favourite club day out is not cancelled as a result of it all though. Shame really as if the club's own track days were better supported then the problem wouldn't have arisen in the first place. It is a long and expensive day out just going to Oulton for me though and that's our closest circuit. I don't really have the time or the money to go further afield, much as I would like to.

You got that wrong-I didn't reach my reserve. With the court case, money has been required for other things & whilst the odd £130 is OK,plus a bit of travel money for Oulton,I couldn't justify going to the Bedford 944 trackday at £130/full day when you add in the time & travel fuel costs.
Donnington is a great trackday venue-you would love it in the Spyder particularly Cramer Curves but again high travel costs.
The RS guys either have trailers & motorhomes or stay in B&B's--out of my league at present

You kick start the debate that has no (cost effective) solution for me:

1) Spyder is perfect, can drive it to track, enjoy it on track and drive it home again.
2) Spyder is not perfect for track days, too valuable, expensive tyres, am too precious about it
3) track day car would be better, could exploit it further and not worry about its value, could be more fun
4) track day car would be rubbish on road, barely used all year, still expensive if it breaks and probably needs a trailer/ tow car/ luxury motor home/ support crew /hospitality suite etc. [:D]

I have discussed this with the usual suspects and don't know the answer. I couldn't afford to and wouldn't want to wreck the Spyder but do savour the pleasures of using it on track. I don't really want to let it go but would quite fancy a stripped out Boxster S / 968/ something but would be pissed off looking at one parked in the garage unused most of the time.

We need Heney to set up Team Mangetout properly, sponsored by Wilson Design and Gravel Boy Engineering then we just need to argue about who's driving. Obviously, we won't let you [:D]

Could make sense to have share-a-car -giving opportunity to experience the other reasonably distant tracks like Donnington ,Croft etc.
With the appropriate suspension, suitable for both track & road,I could use the car day to day so you would avoid that problem of it being in your garage, unused [:)]& with say 4 members(my son Nick could be interested) & possibly our style guru -probably important to cover up the stresses/strains with graphics joining in as well -perhaps on a cost per lap basis-no penalties for extra track time due to spins etc-it would be more affordable.

It would need a watertight contract to be drawn up by a good lawyer though--do we know one?[8|]

It's a lovely idea but almost certainly something you wouldn't want to enter in to with your friends. It has recipe for falling out written all over it!

Kellock's broken the engine, Appleton's filled it with gravel, Wilson's failed to turn up, Heney's got us black flagged etc.

So, what shall we buy? [:D]

Well with Boxsters for 4K -a high miler should be safely past the IMS/RMS threshold-tickled suspension& brakes -worth a look--or 944S2 -around £2500 but would possibly require bodywork--obviously better to buy something with the work done-difficult with good oil correct water level etc to blow the Porsche engines up on sensibly driven track days.Have to set a budget & try & stick to it.

Can see the problems with the gravel-would slow you down-not a bad thing really as you wouldn't blow the engine up so easily. As for black flags -aren't we all colour blind?

Ok then...what have I missed?

who are these RS boys you have offended now rob? [:D]

(funny....I thought it was jamies turn! [;)])
