'Classics at the Castle' 10th June 2007

I'm travelling down the day before, but spending the day with the wife relaxing in some of the picturesque villages nearby

Hey chaps

Looks like Tony, Robin and I will be busy on set up. Hope to travel down night before with 7.5 tonner with all the gear. Any helpers on the day will be gratefully received; especially on break down as I must get the lorry back for Sunday pm ready for depart to Le Mans....... we're a bit pushed with three events going on.

See you there!

Lou

just got my tickets through fro my sporto.. have a spare passanger ticket if anyone wants a lift through the gate [:D]

10 am . . . . think there are goodie bags for people who get there early (but don't hold me to that).

I might be doing a bit of impromptu helping, so might get there earlier.

Just got back from the Castle - what a venue. Lovely weather. The best collection of cars I have seen in one place for many years. Well done to FH and all the team for putting on
such a great day with trade village and display. Did anyone count the number of cars by type?(ie 356, 914 etc) Intersting to know what the numbers were.
Thanks again to all.

John D (PEF 356)

Seconded - a brilliant drive down (thanks Andy for joining me on the run) and a fantastic selection of cars across the models.

Brilliant whether to top it off.

Ian

Just got home to Yorkshire - the cars will be another couple of hours before they arrive.

WHAT A DAY! To anyone who didn't make it - you cannot imagine what you missed seeing.

I lost count at around 140 Early 911's - I believe Fred counted about 115 356's - there must have been 30 or so 914's - I believe they sold over 850 tickets on the gate, including non Early car visitors.

This WAS without doubt the most incredible event for the Early Porsche enthusiast - I caught up with friends I hadn't seen for years, met dozens of new faces and the diversity and quality of the cars on display was incredible.

My heartfelt thanks to Fred, Mike, Ritchie and all who made this event come together for their efforts - and of course to all the Early 911 owners who turned up from all over the country.

Looking forward to next year's event now [:)] Now where's the sunburn cream....... [:D]

Seconded what a great day. Setting in the middle of nowhere a bit but some stunning old machinery on display that got everyone interested in the old cars...lots of comments of nothing is built with this sort of style and class anymore.

Looked everywhere for you Philip and your cars...forgot to take your bl**dy mobile...and couldn't find you!

There was a beautiful yellow 73RS in front of the castle (but had leccy windas so surely not yours?) which I thought was yours and a few white and blue reps but couldn't find yours (from the pics anyway and was hoping for a run out as Chris seemed to really like it....could have been tempted!).

Finally have to say that I've never been a big fan of the 914 at all, ever. But Helen your car just looked beautiful...finally got to see it in the flesh and I'd be quite happy having that in my garage too! Couldn't find you either....but if Philip says there were circa 1,000 people there then that might explain it!

Great event...hopefully can be a bit closer next time...Fred what about Belvoir Castle?[;)]

Now back in North Yorkshire after a superb weekend ( without the kids [:D] ) . It was great to see so many people, seemed I spent all my time just talking [:D] . What a fantastic turn out of cars , especially the 356's .

I thought it was fantastic.

Fabulous setting, wonderful atmosphere, amazing selection of cars, lots of familiar faces and glorious weather.

Not the best place to get to from the south west, but well worth the effort, and had great run back with another RS

Fantastic day out all the cars there were amazing they looked really cool
some great colour's, highlight of the day was having a ride in 356 speedster.

The rep didn't make it - too much work getting four down and after a 5am start (after three hours sleep!) I just needed a car with cruise and aircon to get me there and back - she's always here if you want a blat - Chris is coming up tomorrow [;)]

Who cares where the next event is - just as long as so many wonderful people bring out their wonderful old cars to play [:D]

I must endorse what has already been said about Sunday's wonderful Classics at the Castle.
For those of you who were visiting Essex for the first time, I trust that you went home with a very favourable impression of our quaint villages and pleasant countryside; hopefully returning to explore more at a future date.
Here are my photographs, which I hope you will enjoy looking at one or two.
